This illustrates the power and reach of Wall St. money. To any of you who really thought that the proliferation of malls, strip malls, and all the trappings of suburban sprawl was anything other than fueled by Wall St., look to this one example of collapse of a development project.

Our world in America has been irrevocably changed. Wall St. is to blame. All done in the name of profits.

Right, but this land is not protected. I'm assuming there will be a new awful plan when the economy improves? Hopefully someone in that wealthy area can raise some money to permanently preserve the site so this "circus" doesn't come back to town.

There's already enough golf courses in that area. No need for a new one.

These guys will be back though, don't you worry about that.

Congratulations to Atty. Blumenthal for opposing this needless waste of natural resouces. Wherever you are, thank you Richard Blumenthal. Like we really need another golf course.

Ken, so true. Obscene profits lead to obscene consequences. But Wall Street will be back. It always comes back. Thank God Obama was elected or we would have had a few "strings" pulled in high places for this development. Hopefully, this area can be protected during Obama's administration.

Haha! The Obama is omnipotent.

I'm glad the golf course failed, too, but you people are funny.

Good news, but opponents should not break out the champagne yet. This guy (big buddy of GW Bush) will no doubt be back with an 8-30g affordable housing application for the site. Been there, done that, still fighting a rapacious developer here in Ridgefield...going on 10 years now.

wow. talk about uninformed opinions! Yes, about 20+ years ago, George Bush and Roland Betts were partners in owning the Texas Rangers. Roland Betts lives in this area, George Bush does not.

Wall Street Money? Sorry, this is private financing through people that you have never heard of, and probably never will.

Mr. Betts does not own the property. he is a real estate developer hired by the owners.

Y'all should stop reading the courant and read the local weekly paper that covered the issue for 7 years. Quite the opposite of the 11th hour courant and its "god" Dickie the Lawsuit.

Daily Horoscope for November 30

Scorpio

Last minute changes in your plans are likely as Mercury clashes with unpredictable Uranus. Today can be fun and exciting if you are prepared to be flexible. If you are not in the mood for surprises, you may be quite put out by what transpires. Look at life as one grand adventure and see the humour in little miscalculations. Laughter will help save the day.
