And while he is at it he will continue to criticize the county and the USFS for trying to do something. For his boasting, he should get another pay raise.

Everybody I know refers to Stoddard as the "short necked fluffy ole guy" maybe they need to say "small brain ole guy full of hot air"
They talked about annexation of Sonterra, Alto Lakes, Rancho Ruidoso and other communities surrounding the airport a few years back. Then they had those folks with their big time plans for a sport complex, which would bring a huge amount of traffic, noise, and lets not forget trash to these quiet, clean communities. I say Stoddard should take a good look at his buddy that disposes of the track crap, and get serious about putting Gavin back in charge, or any other competent person, instead of taking away the county residents freedom and taxing them more, because this idiot in charge now can't hold a budget together.
Stoddard and his entire gang need to go!

He might not be the right person to do it but management does need to be local, not Santa Fe or Washington. Who's cares more about you? Some overpaid pinhead who lives in DC or you and your neighbors?...O.L.

If you are from Albuquerque, why should you care? All we know is that Vincent is certainly NOT the management material required. He lacks the education and skills (we noticed during the Little Bear disaster) that all he was interested in was the next photo op with the governor or even the State and Federal Officials. But if they are currently in charge of State and Federal Lands, they have a chain of command to answer to. Vincent tried to cover up his nephews involvement in the White fire, did HE REALLY care about the private properties that were lost there? Where was he when the Swallow fire broke out?
Sorry, but unless management is changed in the Fire Department, I'll trust the State and Federal system to care for me before I trust Vincent the mayor, council OR Debi Lee!

Is this the same Vincent that Mayor Armstrong of Ruidoso Downs promised the Fire Chief position a couple of years ago? Didn't the Downs commissioners vote him down because of his lack of qualifications?

Harlan Vincent is this dimwits name. It could be, these people all run in the same pack. This Harlan Vincent has the "exclusive" contract to clear all the horse puckee from and out of the race track. Stoddard "retired" as the Executive Director of the Hubbard foundation ('89-2008) Last we heard, he was just working as a "consultant". His wife Jean is assistant GM of the racetrack. He is also responsible for "bugging" (her word) Debi Lee to come to Ruidoso. She is responsible for Vincent being in the position he now holds. This "family" of crooks thieves and liars have a smooth way of controlling this area. Why would any county resident want to be part of the Village? To pay more taxes, fees and have more restrictions? Let them control what they have if the citizens there don't care enough to stop the corruption. Leave Lincoln County residents ALONE!

LC, those location things change for what ever reason and the principles of us governing ourselves vice unelected folks 2000 miles away is inmaterial where I live. I grew up in Ruidoso, my mom is buried there, and I've fought fires in those woods. I wouldn't live there now if you paid me till your political situation improves.

"I'll trust the State and Federal system to care for me before I trust Vincent the mayor, council OR Debi Lee!"

Yep, the state and feds have always done a good job at everything!:) No, it shouldn't be at the city level. County maybe. That way if Lincoln Co. screws up it doesn't hurt Otero and vice versa, right up the chain. When the feds screw up, it hurts the whole country...O.L.

Amazing.
Because this arrogant councilman sees one resident burning trash in the county, after a day when it poured rain no less, he is proposing to annex several canyons in the County just to impose his will on others? As if he can just pull a switch to make it happen, and even though we have no water left in the Ruidoso as it is.
Unreal. What a control freak. Instead, he should just hire a fire chief that is willing to work and communicate with other people and coordinate fire restrictions with them rather than run around pissing people off.
If memory serves me correctly, the previous fire chief coordinated fire restrictions with other governments in the County just fine, including Mescalero. And I remember that recently, our new fire chief raised the restrictions during periods of heavy rain this year (and during our motorcycle rally) and lifted the restrictions when things were very dry. There are other blogs on this site related to this very matter. He openly brags to other people and the press that he is an “over achiever” but you could not tell that from his performance.

The point is, You don't live here NOW. We do. And none of us would pay you to live here since that would shrink our water supply even further.:( What many of us are saying is that this family of Hubbard thieves (yes that includes other council members) need to be replaced. No, the government does NOT always do a good job, no matter at WHICH level. The problem at hand is that if they start an annexation push, it will cost all of us in the county money that we don't have. We are already helping them out with the BRT!.
What ARE they thinking when they suggest Vincent could head a larger fire area? He can't even properly head the area he has now!
