In the recent handling of the boil alert I would say the village blew it big time! I first heard of it on my way to work where on T-100 it said Jack Liggett stated Alexandria is still on a boil alert, my first thoughts were if we are still on a boil alert then why am I just hearing of it? If this was something the village wanted passed in an election they would have went door to door with flyers of called everyone but evendently something like our drinking and cooking water isn't as important as getting a levy passed. I checked with quite a few of my neighbors and no one I talked to knew of the boil alert.
Its also to my understanding that there are council people getting paid when they don't attend meetings which is wrong. From what I am hearing there is one specific person who is never there or if he is doens't stay for the entire meeting, if he's that busy then he don't have time for the position and should resign. I think if a council person misses more than 3 meetings per year unless due to health issues they should be removed from council and allow some on to take their seat over who wants and has time to do the job. If it is due to health then the council needs to meet and decide how to handle it and not keep paying some one for nothing. The council position a mostly a thankless one
Regarding charging the fire department for a building permit this is the most boneheaded stunt they have pulled in a long time. The fire department serves the village and the township so this was just plain stupid. Zoning in the village is a joke any how. At one time their biggest concern was mail box permits! You have either had an inspector who was just there for the pay check or one who was on there for personal gain meaning they wanted to build something of their own new.
Its time that the VIllage officials and the township trustees pull together instead of working against each other as the community is growing.
