Property ownership is a public record. Go to city hall with the address and request the info. It should be free.

I was born, raised in whitesburg ky, moved around a lot with my dad (who passed away in 2003) now I live in Russell co.ky.And It seems that no matter where you live anymore it takes so much just to make ends meet.My family and I enjoy visiting Whitesburg, when we can afford to visit. But here lately gas has gone to high to visit anywhere! I sometimes miss my friends, family back home, but it passes.I really miss my dad,he was a great man! He taught me a lot about life and about myself,I love him and miss him dearly.Hope everyone has a great summer. your friend Knightrider. P.S. you are not forgotten Ralph B. 1930-2003 love you.

I agree with you wholeheartedly. My solution is to create a "drug offender registry" for those who sell illegal drugs so we can brand them with a big Scarlett Letter D!

Letcher County is a beautiful place but unfortunately pain pills have have taken over not only the younger generation but also the middle age generation. With all the deaths in the coal mines,I think the inspectors are not making enough rounds to ensure the safety of the mines and there would be less deaths if these mines were inspected on a weekly basis. The efforts from UNITE to clean up the drug trade is admirable and I hope they continue to make Letcher County a safe place to raise a family without druggies or drugs being prevalent. My heart goes out to all the survivors of the mine traumas. God Bless Your Police Force!!

I come to Kentucky once a year to visit my family in letcher county its A shame to see the mountains top gone when I come back there,it looks worse every time I come in,
its just not the mountains and the beauty the water is ruined homes are being damaged from the blast that goes on top of these mountains and people are so greedy about the Coal they have no compassion for the people there how it is hurting the people.
drugs is big problem in letcher county but first need to clean out the crooks that is in office in Whitesburg first before they can get rid of the drugs.
What mountain are you talking about ? I have lived here for 41 yrs and i have yet to see a mountain disappear. but i wish some would so we could have some flat land for farming or industry if there was a factory that would move here where would we put it

I really hope drugs get cleaned out of here. I've seen alot of good people completely change because of it. My cousin's marriage recently fell apart because of her husband's drug addiction. It's sad here. To be honest giving kids something to do here is a waste of money. Apparently partying is something the kids from around here just love doing, unless something drastic is done I don't see any hope for our youth any time in the near future. Hopefully sometime someone will actually care enough to REALLY do something.

You're right, the beauty of the mountains is disappearing. That's why it's high time everyone started banding together against all the "carpet baggers" associated with the gas, oil and coal companies who come in and take advantage of the ones still left behind by offering them "big bucks" to sell their mineral rights. They may get a check for a few months, but ultimately they're left with contaminated water, condemned land, and nothing to show for what they once had.
