WTF? The police protect you and prevent a crime, you survive, then you sue them for this? Sounds to me like the suspect is'nt the only punk here. I know if I were an officer here I would do all I could to get the goods on this manager and get him locked up long enough to learn some respect and get some gratitude! Lot of jerks that don't deserve the rewards and protection of good society around here.

I don't blame the manager for suing. The good people of Cape Coral are sick and tired of the Rambo style tactic of our police department. We should be able to reasonably assume that we will not get shot by our police officers when we assist them in a crime. In this instance, the Cape Coral Police Department knew that a Taco Bell restaurant would get robbed and asked the manager to assist them in a sting operation. The manager complied and was shot by the very people who promised to protect him. The police should have used one of their own to act on behalf of the store manager.

i was sitting outside of taco bell on that night and i can say that i don't blame paul for suing the cops, i only heard two shots real quick and the both sounded like they were shot from the same gun. If you read in the new news article the robber knocked on the back door saying he was the cape police, and they police told him it was okay to open the door when they knew that it wasn't one of their officers knocking on the back door right there is a fucking great reason to sue, you throw in the ballistics report and this lawsuit is open and shut

Cops are primadonnas at their best and that shield gives them a license to screw anyone they come in contact with......if they desire. Apparently someone at TacoBell refused to be shaken down for free meals and got a warning shot.
Remember, the cops are not perfect and criminals appear in all walks of life.
On a personal note, I think Cops should have to sign a contract individually and it should be proper to expire without renewal, should the officer violate work rules or the law.

the cops didnt violate any rules or the law. the manager got in the way during a dangerous situation, his fault or not. and one can't say that the officer told him to open the door unless they were the manager or the officer present. Any opinion on that fact is heresay only! yeah of course it sucks that the manager got shot, but who's to say that maybe he wasnt involved in the whole thing to begin with...conspiracy, hmmm. i visit that taco bell often and there are always no-gooders inside and around the parking lot. seems to me that something fishy has been going on there for awhile.

Well, personally being the one who gave the tip, beign ushered around by the police and them putting ME in danger -- telling the suspects my name, having bullets later shot at a few locations I was staying at.... you guys have no room to talk. The police SENT ME IN, knowing they knew I had DIRECT contact with the suspects and they knew who I was before the shooting, it doesn't make much sense for me to be showing the manager text messages about purchasing a gun. Fact is the taco bell was littered with officers long before it happened, they knew what car they were driving had pictures of the suspects that I supplied.... and some how still they let him in to the taco bell. On top of it all, the suspects gun didn't have any bullets. My tip, costs 2 people to be shot, both by the police -- who were trying to stop ANYONE from getting hurt. This is what we call EPIC FAIL. The police caused more damage than what would have happened had they not been involved. You people make me sick, I had to relocate, and buy a new home just to be safe when they promised I would be anon.... and I wasn't. They told everyone who I was, and in a matter of a day had people looking for me everywhere. Good Work CCPD.

Epic fail indeed! Who's to say what happened if you weren't there you say? Give me a break. I think the manager knows pretty damned well what happened and what was said and promised to him before, during and after this fiasco. My condolences to the tipster, i'd never put myself in the position of helping the CCPD foil crime.

Annon, I don't believe you. On a side note,'Annon' is spelled 'Anon'. Anyone who thinks the CCPD is at fault here has no common sense. The guy came in with a gun and got shot. The manager was standing next to him and got shot. Anyone ever fire a gun before? How is your grouping? Add anxiety, stress and death to the mix and see how you perform. The manager will never win a lawsuit on this case. The police prevented an armed robbery and succeeded. You guys expect too much. This is life. There is no black and white, there is no cut and dry and there is no guarantee in anything.

the police instead of stopping the crime before it happened decided they wanted to get as many charges on the perp and got the manager shot in the process. the cops are pigs they always want to screw people as much as possible.this is the result of them wanting to charge some on with armed robbery as opposed to conspiracy to commit armed robbery.
