They should have run Kip Kelly. If he could win it would have been a blessing for North Cornwall.

"It is tough being a moderate in that (Republican) party," he said "They are, to some degree, chasing people away."

The Lebanon 9-12 project can be thanked for that. I'm glad some people still have some common sense in this county.

Sorry Mr. Ruffner but I am just not sold on you yet. As a registered Democrat you will not get my vote until I meet you personally and decide for myself. I guess you have a lot of work cut out for you.

Until then I will vote for the other two Democrats. Litz and Pflueger.

Not just the 9-12 Project! Hick-up and screw-up are doing their fair share.

"Two Lebanon County Republican Committee members vying for leadership of the local party have reached an agreement to resolve a dispute that has essentially paralyzed the committee since November.

Adam Gingrich and Pat Braden have each laid claim to the party chairmanship."

I think he pulled an Arlen Specter, but I'm not sure it matters. I've known Jim Ruffner for a long time, and he has earned my respect. When it comes down to it, neither party nor political philosophy is very relevant to what county commissioners do.

I agree people should vote for the person not the party and not because a party calls them and tells them how to vote. Isnt that why we have freedoms to make our own choices.

Look at the mess the GOP is in, Braden and the tea party talk the talk of no endorsements and then they go and endorse. Then they fight over who is running the club house, and now they will bully voters into voting their way.

this whole election is a mess and it didnt even really get started yet

This is the same Mr. Ruffner that is the slum lord a couple of years ago the city had his building condemned on 10th st. because of the filth he had his tenants live in and said he didn't know anything about it. Honesty? I think not!!!!

There are more than 160 members of the Republican Committee, less than 1/3 of them are "Tea Party". There was a vote and the end result of the vote was to endorse. If you look at the vote counts about 1/3 of the members voted against endorsing. That 1/3 accepted the vote of the majority and there were endorsements this year.

As for the fight over who is running the club house. It wasn't simply the 1/3 that elected Pat Braden as the Chairman, it was the vast Majority of the Committee. A few didn't accept that vote and that is what created the mess.

Of course, none of this is mentioned in the newspapers because that wouldn't protect the status quo. Everything has to be that extreme radical "Tea Party" so we can compartmentalize, label and divide the country even more.

Seems to me the RINO rats are getting out because they know they have no chance in a real Republican primary.

Good riddance!

As for the remaining Republicans, don't kid yourselves - there are a couple of RINOs left - including the commissioner candidate who only registered Republican when he moved to LebCo because it was expedient.

Do yourselves a favor and vote for a Democratic majority to keep these tea baggers in check. Letting them loose on the county will be worse than a plague of locusts!

Let's see - Senator Folmer was a registered Democrat for many years, as was President Reagan. The Lebanon County Democratic Chair used to be a Republican. Senator Arlen Spector changed parties. Past "Democratic" candidates for Lebanon County Commissioner Ed Rutter and Steve Keefer were registered Republicans for many years. So what. If you think this matters, maybe you also think that the parties control the candidate's actions in office.

Maybe we should evaluate our candidates on who they are and what they believe. Party affiliations, we hope, are not important. Did you want to return to the old days when all county jobs are controlled by the party? Oh yes, like appointing the party chairman's son as county administrator at nearly 90,000 a year salary?

Do you want a candidate you respect or do you just want a chosen party follower who will do what the party bosses want, regardless of the needs of the people?
