And the other 15.5% was due to "market conditions" which is the insurance companies raising their rates just because they feel like it, as they have done every year.

Maybe they should have thought of a co-pay for insurance for employees like everyone else has before signing new agreements. Just think if they had it across the board on the $1m they could be saving $100,000 if you had a 10% co-pay. (Which isn't unreasonable.) Would would have helped with their revenue.

Do county employees covered under this insurance plan pay a premium like most workers in the private sector?

I am a retired senior citizen of Leb. Co. and was told recently there will be no increase in SS for 2011 because our costs have not gone up significantly enough to warrant an increase. Why then are they giving the county employees a 3% increase next year? They eat the same food I eat, pay the same for gas. Get my point???

Wait a minute! I thought Jo Ellen Ditz was a fiscal whiz kid capable of balancing a budget on her middle finger.

What gives???

I dont think the rejected cost of living increase and the county wage increase are comparable. Apples to oranges. I'm sure if if you were still working and it came to you getting an increase, you wouldnt be upset about it in the least. Everyone always wants what everybody else has...

County employees receive terrible wages in exchange for good benefits. Check any other county they pay wayyy better. Do yourself a favor and leave this county while you still can!

No one is forcing them to stay. They can go work somewhere else.

Maybe their union is just not up to the job?

Okay, genius, enlighten us: which employees at the county level aren't represented by union thugs?
