New Castle Knights Bring Semi-Pro Football
To Lawrence County Area

New Castle, PA (March 31, 2006)– The New Castle Knights, a newly formed semi-pro football team, has formed in Lawrence County Pennsylvania to benefit the community.

With the addition of their new head coach and their general manager, the New Castle Knights are looking to begin tryouts in April to begin an exciting legacy of semi-professional football in Lawrence County. Their new head coach, Rick Sumner, has volunteered to take the helm of the team to lead them into the future.

“The New Castle Knights are honored to have someone with the history and drive that Coach Sumner has with the city of New Castle and Lawrence County to bring to this team. Coach Sumner was a great athlete and superb quarterback with the New Castle High Hurricanes during the early 70’s and had an opportunity to be one of the few to make it to tryouts with the New York Jets in 1979,” says Reverend David Gailbreath, Team Owner.

Also making his debut with the Knights is Dave Cochenour, as the teams General Manager and Brenda Sumner, as the Lady Knights Dance Team Coordinator.“I believe that we have assembled a top notch team of individuals that have the drive and determination that will bring Lawrence County a team that they can be truly proud of,” said Reverend Gailbreath of his new staff.

For the interested players looking to take their career to the next level, the first team meeting will be held Saturday, April 15th, 2006 for interested players to meet the Knights coaching staff and begin the journey to take their career to the next level of play. Open tryouts for the team will be held Saturday, April 22, 2006 for players that are looking to play for the Knights. Locations and times for these two events will be announced on the team website in the coming week. As part of the New Castle Knights family, the Lady Knights Dance Team is also forming. This program is lead by dance coordinator Brenda Sumner and the Lady Knights will be holding their first informational meeting at Chuck Tanner’s Restaurant, 2305 Wilmington Road in New Castle, Thursday, April 20 2006 at 6:00 PM. If you are interested in joining the Lady Knights Dance Team, Contact the coordinator at 724-652-5805.

For interested businesses looking to expand their advertising budget and sponsor the New Castle Knights in their endeavor to bring a national title to Lawrence County, they should contact Reverend David Gailbreath, team owner at 724-654-1831 for more detailed information.

The Knights will be forming for the 2006 season, which runs from June to October 2006 as an exhibition team and will be playing from six to eight games this season. For the 2007 season, the Knights will join the prestigious North American Football League for a full fourteen to sixteen game schedule.
