The "cooling-off" period is a fallacy. It just gives time for the person to reach a full boil. The person under such a charge as domestic violence already has to sign an order forbidding them from being able to even go NEAR the home until after the trail (which may take years) just to get out of jail.

All of the accussed's rights are suspended by signing this bond form, including, but not limited to: child visitation rights (you must file for divorce to obtain those, in a seperate court): rights to return home for such items as clothing, medicine, personal hygene items, checkbooks, wallets, pets, etc.: rights to any items that you may need to make a living with, including tools, books, automobiles and computers. Keep in mind, you must file for divorce to even be allowed to discuss getting any of these things back.( which again, will take years to get the court dates) And you may also be told (as I was after being falsley accussed of domestic violence) that if you stop paying the house payment, or the utilities, or the car insurance, that the judge may find that you are using non-payment as a form of harrasment, and therefore you are in contempt of court, and risk being arrested and held on that charge for an indeterminate amount of time.

The laws are more than adequate as they stand, just enforce the ones you have, don't pile more bad laws on top of them.
