I work for a 7 billion dollar distribution division of a retail power. And most of the high-level employees are from the North (NY, NJ, MA, PA, OH, etc...). It would be a shame if ones accent prevented someone from moving ahead in a company. In my immediate surroundings my colleagues are graduates from the following, Tennessee, Penn State, Buffalo, Winthrop, Oregon, Utah, St. Johns, Naval Academy, Military Academy, U-Mass, Vermont, Indiana, Lehigh, South Carolina, Providence, Cincinnati, Lock Haven, Cal State-Fullerton, and somewhere in Ghana and Germany. And, the one who graduated from U of TN is from PA.
Where, I do not believe southerners are inferior; you have to ask yourself why a company who is housed and founded in the South has such a higher concentration of northerners.
