Ok. Sexually assaulted a child once and only got probation. Did it again and only gets 10 years. And they say its not about who you know and who you are. Why would Scott McDowell give him a plea bargain after he's already been found guilty by a jury? These judges and county attorneys need to start being held accountable.

You have absolutely hit the nail on the head!! This guy has had enough "justice" to last a lifetime. The justice for his victims isn't coming though. They have a lifetime of hell if they don't get help with how to handle this abuse. It's been a while ago and I have "been told" that one of them is not doing so good. That's been a while ago, so maybe she's better.
I pray they get to have a good life.
Will he be banned from any contact with children from now on when he gets out and do you think he'll have to register as a sex offender? Under the law he should, but it looks like what's good for one isn't good for another in this case.

What I understand is that the court accepted a plea bargain as agreed to by the prosecutor in order for the victim to not have to keep testifying time after time. He got ten years to do rather than 20? If he got 20, he would be out in 10 and he will probably be out in 5.

One of his victims has had to testify each time anyway. They're grown or pretty much so now, so it's nothing new to them. Not that that makes it any better. He is a multiple molester and should never be allowed to be around young people again in his life, just as any molester, he should be required to register just like they do. The public has a right to know. I know someone who was given a sentence for a lesser offense and they havent gotten parole. People like him should have to stay the entire sentence and not a day less. The damage this creep did to the family involved is not measureable.

I hope he finds peace and serenity while wrapped tightly in the arms of a big burly guy named Bubba. I will be surprised if he survives his 10 years. Inmates don't take kindly to sex offenders; I hope they butt F**K him for all he's worth.

The County Attorney is the reason why he got any time at all.
He has pursued this man for 7 years. He should be applauded.

Thats not true. The county attorney is the one who agreed to him only getting 10 years and the county attorney said he may only have to serve 5 of that.I dont understand how the judges or the county attorney can think getting drug dealers off the street is more important that getting child rapists off the street.

You are right! You don't understand. It's easy to look from the outside and think you see clearly. The victim and her family were so sick of having to relive this horror that they were to the point of just giving up and not having a trial. You don't understand the family dynamics and what goes on in the mind of a victim who has to relive the horror over and over with each trial. Unless you were there every step of the way to walk them through this hell; unless you held their hand and cried with them for 7 years; unless you heard their anger and sorrow; then you are right, YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND!

Free, living in Paris for a couple of years.
He does not operate a chiropractic business any longer.
The building he used near the hospital is for sale.

P.S. He had to register as a Sex Offender 6 years ago after the first child abuse trial, concerning the eldest daughter, in which he got Deferred Adjudication and no jail time with a different County Attorney but the same judge.

Yes, Gary is very tenacious when it comes to sex offenders. Real justice in this case would have been more like 50 years with no parole possible. It seems like 10 years is the standard for most plea bargains.

I go pat his former office behind the hospital pretty often and now it has a sign on it that says clinic. Does anyone know who has this or anything? I've only seen the door open and the lights on a few times and no other cars around. Just wondering.

It wasn't up to the victim whether or not Pedersen would go to trial, or at least it shouldn't have been. If I were a victim, I would much rather my rapist be placed in prison for 50 years rather than possibly seeing him at a ballgame or in a store next to me in 5. If I were a victim,I would be concerned about the other childrn he may rape after he gets out in possibly 5 years. He was found guilty. It makes no sense that after he's found gulity, Gary Young and Scott McDowell would give him only 10 years knowing he may be out in 5. Appeals don't work unless you can prove you didn't get a fair trial. If they did their jobs correctly, they wouldn't have to worry about Pedersen getting another new trial on appeal. That was not likely to happen. Aaron Hart got 100 years and committed a much less offense than Pedersen and Pedersen did it twice and was not mentally retarded. You didn't see themworrying about appeals and victims for that one. You can't explain this away by saying its about the victims.

In this day and age, a fair trial or not, if you've got the bucks, you can get a lawyer to appeal for you on some junk technical point. It's to no one's benefit but the sex abusers in this case that it worked. Of course, it was probably the reason for the appeal in the first place, to finagle around and get a lesser sentence. If you got the bucks you can do it I guess. Or the influence. Whatever. It's still way, way too light a sentence. As someone said, maybe some big burly not-quite-right druggie will welcome him personally. Normally, I don't think such things about people, but this creep has had it way too soft for too long.

I think a 230+ pound man raping a 6 year old boy anally is pretty bad and the judge did the little boys of Paris a big favor to give Aaron Hart 100 years - he will be in his fifties when he gets out and this type of person reoffends more than anyone. Pederson should have gotten more, but the circumstances were different.

I say put any sex offender in a cage with a 800lb. horney gorrila and that should stop "ALL SEX OFFENDERS",. And taxpayers would not have to put up with them again, and parents would have their revenge. I don't think they would ever try it again!

OK...Im not here to stir the pot or anything....I got on here to look for Haunted Houses. I seen the name "Pederson" that is a very unusual way to spell Pederson, so it led me to wonder if its the Pederson I once knew. But what has my heart sinking is...I babysat for a Pederson family in Morningside about 17 or so years ago. The dad was a Chiropractor, song leader, man of God. His wife was a homemaker and they had 2 girls then a boy. I am hoping it is not this family. I moved away for awhile, but never got back in contact with the family. I have since learned they have divorced. This is just horrible and Im praying its not the same man. His daughters would be about 24 and 18 maybe and son about 16? Im not real sure been long time. Please God, let this not be the family I once babysit for!

Are you an advocate for the victims? If so, you should have been willing to testify about how they were affected. The DA has refused to give pleas in cases less minor than this one. It's because of him this molestor didn't get more time. How do you think the victims will feel when he gets out in five years. They'll have a lifetime of horrible memories and he only gets five years for being the cause of those horrible memories.
