open your eyes it wont take you long to figure out what is going on in this town rental cops, racist black stupid board members, the 2 main problems are mariam holder, and terry canaday and until they go to jail for embesselment and fraud or either get kicked off the board things will not change. mariam holder has been a racist bitch all her life, she is the one causing the most problems for our new mayor Larry Strahan, but that isn't to say her other 2 partners are any smarter than she is they voted with the bitch to keep paying our convict police cheif morice hammond while the city is broke. Now if that doesn't say stupid ass idiots I don't know what does, if that doesn't explain enough for you go to a board meeting and bring beer and popcorn you will need it

It seems so long ago that the black folks were afraid to open their mouths. But, times have changed for the good. It's funny when black FOLKS are in control uneducated WHITE folks are scared. Reminds me of the 50s and 60s when they think they have all the power. What we need is for someone to come in change Lumberton for the best and forget about the color of someone skin. OH my I forgot we're still in backwards MS. And for the person that keep harping on Ms. Holder's education you need to check you're source and see that she is VERY EDUCATED and HAVE A COUPLE OF DEGREES! There again misinformed.

Seems to me that when THESE black folk are in control, the town of Lumberton falls down. And yes, we do need someone to come in to change Lumberton....for the best. Someone who can clean up this corruption. But I fear that it's gone beyond help. forget about the past of the 50s and 60s, lets foucus on today, please

To the concerned citizen, I do not see where anyone questioned miriam holder's education the above comment said that she is a racist bitch and I agree, and she can't be very smart she voted to keep paying the police cheif until feb. 17 while he is suspended and the city is broke, now that tells me that she must be almost as smart as a MONKEY

Some dumb ass wants to talk about the 50's and 60's, I want you to look at lumberton in 1950 and 1960 and you will find out that the economy was booming and everyone was proud of lumberton. Now the blacks are running lumberton and the town is run about as well as africa, no buisiness will come here, everyone is embarresed to tell anyone where they live (even the blacks) and the town is a black hole and it will not get better unless the blacks are kicked off the board, and I don't mean all blacks just all the ones we have now!!!

Miriam isn't the whole problem, but she is a big one. She is racist but most people are, even the upiddy Northerners. To do this fair, the whole board needs to be removed and the state take over until a new one can be elected. This is a classic black white issue, a power struggle. These people do not seem to even give a darn about our town, if they did they would do what ever it takes to stop this outrage. The powers that be are either innocent of any wrong doing or really stupid for attracting so much attention to themselves. This is so embarrasing!

Not only was born and raised in L-ton I happen to love my city. What we all need to focus on is how to make this small town a better Town for our kids. The sad part about all of this saga is what image are we portraying to the children. I happen to be a black female that is stuck over in Iraq and I get all of the news that is happening back home and its sad and petty that all this is going on. Yes, I made the comment about the 50's and 60's and I stick to those comments because we don't need a repeat of that. But, in all accord we need a Board and Mayor that are willing to put the difference of each other skin color and work on one accord. Yes, somethings may not seem right to one race but we all need to make certain it benefits what is right and just. We need to stop making Lumberton a BIG COMEDEY SHOW. For the person that made the comment about AFRICA were do you need to back to. Remember,if you're not an Indian (forget it you get the point!) Another point is Ms. Holder insipered alot of kids while she was a teacher for the Lumberton School District. I enjoyed being in her class. Lumberton let's put our differences and come together and forget all this name calling on focus on turning this town around.

#1 I am from lumberton born and raised #2 I am indian #3 You signed up to go to Iraq so I don't wanna hear about you being stuck #4 You enjoyed miriam holders class becouse you are black #5 It is a fact that miriam holder is a stupid racist bitch and she is a big part of the problem, the idiot just found out that they can't pay the police cheif unless the three black alderman that voted for it wants to pay him out of there own pocket which I find very funny #6 If you really want to talk about the city in the 50's and 60's and who was running it and well it was run, let's talk about it

The whole town is a mess and needs a fresh beginning regardless of race. Strahan is just as racist as eveyone elese there. He called the FBI in to try to do his bidding for him so he can run the town himself without the aldermans. Problem is, the agent himself has problems plus race issues in the past. Just start over: new mayor, new elections, etc.

What did Larry Strahan do or say to make you think he is racist and what do you mean he called in the FBI to do his bidding, bidding on what, he called the FBI in to help catch the theives and sorry pieces of garbage like miriam holder that have been stealing the city's money, and I dont think we need a new mayor Larry is the first one we have had that has the balls to stand up to the stupid board members, and it is the mayors job to run the city and the aldermans job to help him, but he does have the power to veto and it's a good thing. As far as race issues there have always been race problems every where in the US so get used to it

I am a little late to be posting my comment on Lumberton, but i would like to voice my opinion on the matter also, i moved here in November 06, as my current job called for me to do so. I was ssssoooooooo happy at first to move here, and finally after a while my eyes began to open, our police are crap, and the same goes for city officials. I could pick this subject apart, but to some it up I agree this city needs a MAJOR OVERHAUL !!!!!!!!!!

You may be right about the mayor but until the board is GONE, a new mayor will not help anything

Wishing we could be a part of another town and just be a little area like Baxterville, Hub, or Sunnyhill and not be a town anymore. we would not need a mayor, police, board or cityhall. We would just be a little area and under the law of Lamer county. We would have no need for the Smart or Dumb people to fight over who knows best for us we would be better off and our tax dollars would be in a better place. We would not have to listen to these people fight and over who has the most education and sho is the smartest and who know best. We would not be the joke of the surounding towns. Lamar county takes care of us anyway so why not give them all our tax dollars. Sad in Lumberton!!

I think that everybody is looking at the wrong thing all we (the citizens of lumberton) need to do is work together as a team and stop pointing fingers at people cause none of them are perfect and they all have racial issues going on with them we have ex klan members on the board and so on but nobody wants to talk about that anyway lumberton will not grow unless there is a change.

Daily Horoscope for December 27

Libra

You're full of empathy and affection today, so it would be a shame not to spread it around. It's a marvellous day for a low-key get-together with some of the people you haven't seen during the past few days, because you'll enjoy having a good chat about what's been happening. Once your social duties are out of the way you'll love curling up on the sofa with a good book or a favourite film.
