I remember growing up in Lafayette County FL in the 1940 and 1950s. Old folks declared that the river flooded every 20 years. I remember the flood of 1948 when the San Pedro and Brewer Lake, Day, FL flooded and met the flood water from the Suwannee flood. Dad built Grandma Berta Barrs a wooden walkway from her house to dry ground in Day. There are old photos of flooded homes in the Centennial edition of the Mayo Free Press. The flooded home of Uncle Morgan, built by my Toole family flooded. Both families are relatives of mine. We lived in the old Four Mile School House on a farm owned by Aunt Orlee Morgan-Parker, widower of Senator Fred P. Parker. AF Barrs
