In September 2011 my son was beaten with a belt by his step-mother in Laclede County, Missouri. My son was diagnosed by his doctor as a victim of physical assult. He obtained bruiseing to the backs of his legs and across his abdomen. My sons statement was taken by the local childs division stateing what had happened to him. His step-mother was questioned and denied Codys statements. The child division has closed his case due to lack of evidence. After almost 6 months later I was still unable to obtain a copy of the findings. Now today I have finally obtained them. After reviewing them, I am beside myself! Along with my sons statement was the statement of his step-mother. She is claiming the bruiseing came from playing dodgeball at school that day. My son did not attend school that day! I contacted the local Sheriff to see if I could get some answers as to why no charges were filed. After makeing an appointment to meet with him, I later received a phone call with a message from Mr. Wrinkle. The messenger stated that the sheriff declined our appointment with no explination. Does he just not want to have to explain to me how this case fell thru the cracks thru the hands of his deputys? I also learned that the reports filed were not even sent to the procecutors office for review as officers in that office told me they were. I have read about several other child abuse cases in this county and so many of them went uncharged. Some leaving the child deceased! Still these abuse criminals are walking free.

The system must be child molesters and beaters or they would see that the child should have the system for protection.

debbe, i think if the mother was giving the child drugs in most cases they would take the child away from your daughter. sometimes i think people believe what the want to believe. did you see her giving the child drugs?
was the child acting crazy?
what makes you think this ?

I know that sometimes children play parents and step-paretns against each other. Without any physical evidence AND a writte ER report it is hard. Next time take your child to the ER to have it documented. A lot of times parents and step-parents file false claims against each other (not saying that is what happened) so if charges were filed in every case of alleged child abuse there would literally be hundreds of cases filed each month. DFS workers are college educated and trained to take in all the facts as well as the reactions of each person involved including being able to tell if a person is being honest and they take all of that into consideration. If they suspected abuse the child would be removed from that home immediatley until a further investigation has been done. If further reports are filed it will be investigated further. that is what the hotline is for.
