Father of victim files lawsuit against owner of animal sanctuary

The father of a teenager killed by a tiger has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the owner of an animal sanctuary where the death occurred.

I feel really sorry for both families however that was a pretty dumb thing for both parties to allow to happen. The kids snould not have been allowed to be in with the animals and the parents should not have allowed their child to go in there. The lawsuit was no surprise. That is the kind of world we live in today.

What I want to know is, Who forgot to feed the poor kitty cat ? and who's Idea was it to get in the cage with the lion to have their picture taken in the first place ? I bet someone got a good picture out of that too. Come on kids what are you thinking, they are called wild Animals for a reason, leave the owner alone, you cause him to loose a pretty kitty cat by being stupid in the first place. what's next ? how about having your picture taken in front of a pet rattle snake he won't bite ! Guess we are all Distrrbed when it comes to having a sense of humor, Come on now why would you put your self in a situation like that in the first place tigers are wild Animals and they are not cute and cuddly like most children think they are, she put her self in harms way and the price cost her life, I don't think the pet owner should of had the animal put to sleep over it because the tiger only done what We all don't realize it's only survival too them and to act only out of nature from her own fear. I stumbled onto this site while I was reviewing news about another tragedy at our school.(The students who died in Costa Rica). This school has suffered enough. Unfortuneately, those with the least amount of information (actual facts) are the first to make the most inappropriate comments. It doesn't matter how the tragedy unfolds, it is still a tragedy for those involved. Did your mother not teach you that if you can't say something nice, say nothing at all? I hesitate to respond, but what I have read in the previous entries is very disturbing. It's never appropriate to laugh at someone's tradegy no matter the cause. Everyone makes "stupid" mistakes now and then and sometimes those mistakes cost a life. Who are we to judge? I also know the tiger owner. I know that he is not a person to intentionally put a life in danger. However, he could have said no when asked if the tiger could be photographed; therefore, he has to accept some responsibility. He should have also known the risks involved and chose to avoid the potential dangers. Even with that said, there is no point in placing judgment or blame on anyone. We can't dwell on what could have been done. It's too late for that. And it is never appropriate to be crude and hateful at the expense of another's pain. Our lives are put in danger every day when we walk outside our house. Are we going to stop driving or walking down the street? Is someone going to call me "stupid" because a car jumped the curb and I was killed? Afterall I was the one taking a risk!

I, like Haley, am a member of the LCHS cross country team. She was a talented young woman whom everyone loved. I met her through cross country and that is when we talked. We didn't get close by any means, but we did know each other and were there if anything tragic happened, just like a team should be. I am also a friend of Kyle, whose uncle owns the animals. I talked to both him and Haley's parents. Kyle felt terrible about what had happend, and wished it hadn't, but also understood that terrible things happen in life. His uncle knew what had to be done to the animal if anything were to happen, and for your information, LCHS has been taking pictures with those animals for years before this ever happened. It was a tradition for many of the students here. No one knows why the animal snapped, and it doesn't matter. What has happened, happened. Everyone just needs to leave the whole story alone and let the past be the past. Why bring up who was right or wrong, and whose fault something was. Like I said, life happens. LC has been through a rough time this past year, we don't need people making it worse by saying we are to blame.

You people make me sick, especially Jessie James Jr. Kyle Billingsly is a great person, and knows how to raise tigers. The reasons for the tiger mauling poor Haley was 1. He wasn't prepared for the situation, it takes time and effort to prepare the animals for occasions such as being around people. 2. It was probably NOT wanting to be in the picture or around people at the time. And basically it was Haley's fault, but still a freak accident. So I appreciate those who have decent comments and curses from God to those who think this is a freaking joke.
