High Court Hears Judicial Pay Raise Cases
In sometimes sharp exchanges with judges on the state's top court, an attorney for the Legislature argued that lawmakers have the sole constitutional authority to set judicial pay, whether or not they do it responsibly.

To fail to increase the pay for the judges is to fail to understand the immense value and vital need for a well operating judiciary. The pay raise must take into account the security needs of the federal judges.
