Lee is a proud school with a great history, however the current climate will not allow it to survive. Rather than waiting for the state to act it is time to talk with Wyoming and Godwin School districts to find a way to save these schools. Merging into one unified Wyoming school district will not only save funds by combining services, but will also provide the district with more state funds. The state penalizes smaller districts.

Ok, while it is true some districts in Wyoming are in trouble, there is absolutely no reason to think Godfrey-Lee would want to take them over.

I'm not joking. Wyoming P. S. is bloated and losing enrollment to the point of major layoffs and school closings. Then there is Godwin Heights having to pay back the money it bilked the State out of. More red ink.

While Godfrey-Lee is financially sound and stable to growing in enrollment year in and year out that doesn't mean G-L should take over their neighbors. That's just not nice to expect the Rebels to step in and fix every other surrounding district by taking them over. Is this being suggested just because G-L maintains a fund balance of @ 18%?(it has been as low as 15% and as high as 21%)

Or could it be that someone is coveting that fund fund balance as a quick to fix their own financial woes?

By the way the research will point to the fact that the "ideal size" for a school district is right around the size of 2000 students. Godfrey-Lee has 1700 +/-.
