This goes to show the hard work and dedication of the law enforcement team. Off duty but never fully off duty.
Good story to reminisce!!!

I wonder if the people involved would have worker as hard to catch a real criminal rather than chasing after the support of the neo-prohibitionists at MADD

This would have been a lot more interesting if the deputy had been a good looking woman and there were pictures to go with the story.

I can only imagine the flack that this guy is getting with his fellow officers... Perhaps something like, "There is the superhero, who also enjoys fighting crime in their underwear!" "What you didn't have time to put an "S" on your chest?" and so many more!
I'm glad the story ended well! Good work!

I've run fire/EMS for 12 years. There is not the carnage that MADD would have you believe. I have been to many more MVAs caused by senior citizens than drunks. In fact, I've been to only one where a drunk driver injured someone outside of their own car.

Outstater: Unless your 'running fire/EMS' in a retirement village, I find your comment hard to believe. The number of crashes and innocent people killed (same car or not) that are related to drugs and alchohol far outnumbers those caused by senior citizens. I've been in EMS for 12 years as well, so don't try and tell me i'm getting my statistics from MADD; I've witnessed it first hand. I think 'disgruntled' speaks far more to the credibiilty of your statements than any EMS/fire experience you may have.

"Alcohol Related" crashes are not alcohol caused crashes. If you get rear-ended and break your 12pk of Bud it is an alcohol related accident simply because alcohol is at the scene and the officer puts it in a report. Even though the Bud did not cause it. If you drive a person home who is drunk and cause an accident (though your sober) it is alcohol related. Alcohol caused accidents are far fewer than the media and MADD want you to think.
