I have noticed a large amount of cases of lymphoma and cancer in Kankakee County.
Is this noticed by anyone else?
Does anyone have an idea or explanation?

I said years ago that there was a high rate of cancer in Kankakee County. Seven years ago my daughter was diagnosed with cancer (brain Tumor) she was recently rediagnosed. During the first couple years of her diagnoses three other children in our subdivision alone were diagnosed with cancer. One with a brain tumor 2 with leukemia. I am sure there have been more children in the area. Not to mention all the adults diagnosed. I believe we also have a very high rate of breast cancer. Think we might have a problem in the area!

We live about half mile from farming most of which is now houses. I would say the pesticides may be a contributor. Also I do not recommend drinkling our water. God only knows what toxins it contains. That would be my opinions on the subject.

Mom, could you please provide the name of the subdivision? Was it near the Shell pipeline MTBE spill. I, too, notice, we seem to have a high incidence of cancer in this county, especially brain tumors and lymphomas. I am trying to locate documents or locations of cancer clusters. A couple of years ago, the Daily Journal ran a story about cancer rates that I am trying to locate. I found a story in the DJ from May 11 2007, states:
"Health is down 45 spaces to 217. Cancer mortality, a measure of the number of people who die from that disease, is higher than the national average."
The information came from the "Cities Ranked and Rated."
I would still like to find more information on types of cancer cases, and number of people diagnosed.
Thanks for your help.

We have several adults (men and women) in our neighborhood (3 to 4 blocks that we know of) who have had breast cancer, thyroid cancer, tumor on the spine and lymphoma. Is it possible that adults are more susceptible to something in the air, soil or water? Past farm or chemical pollution, radon or water pollution from a manufacturing processes & chemicals come to mind as possible causes. Are you seeing cancer in adults and children or just adults.

Hi, I am in Plainfield (Will county) and am noticing alot of neighbors getting Cancer or brain tumors. We have all lived here less then 11yrs, and my neighbor has brain Cancer and 2 houses down from her the lady just got diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer. Also on the next block one women has brain tumors and the other Breast Cancer. I am getting very scared that this might be some sort of "outbreak", is there anyone i could contact about this type of thing? I am really thinking about putting my house up forsale and getting out of here.

My 69 year old brother went into hospital with severe pain in upper stomach. 5 weeks later he was dead.
Here's the kicker...his wife went into hospital with SAME problem. She was sent to U of Chicago for tests. They told her she had pancreatic cancer and could operate. They sounded optimistic.
Because my brother was so sick, she put it off. One month after he died, she went in for her surgery. They did a pre-op scope and found the cancer had already spread to her liver. They sent her home. Her doctor told her about a week later that she was Stage 4. They give her 6-12 months to live.
Their home is just off 115 near the Koerner airport. Surrounded by farmland, pesticides and crop dusting occur. Also, there is a chemical plant 3-4 miles away. Does anyone know of any "clusters" in that area (2000 S Road)?
I've written the EPA, but have heard nothing back. We need some direction on how to figure out what's going on. Their sons will be loosing both parents in less than a year most likely.

This is horrible and unexceptable. I heard this when I moved back into the area 8 years ago and now I am seeing it more and more. We need to make the powers that be investigate this. Is anyone looking into it? What can we do? Does the CDC know about this? When I moved here my doctor told me KKK had a high instance of cancer and I didn't believe him. Now, like every third person I meet has cancer!

Aug 16th 2013 my mom got diagnosed with GBM (stage 4 brain cancer) AT AGE 54 . I agree there is something going on in this area . I have talked with many people who also know someone with this type of cancer.... two women in my town of about 3500 have GBM and it's rare....a coincidence
...I don't think so! I BELIEVE IT'S IN OUR WATER.
