Wants Juniata County to weigh all prison options
I think it's a mistake not to fully look into whether the Juniata County Prison should be closed.

Well since 1833 the county jail has withstood it's walls and has been succesfully benn used to house prisoners for whatever reason. Why after 179 years is this now only coming to a head? Juniata County could have built a new jail when the economy wasn't like it is today- poorly. The county officials waited to long and now you want to close it and put the burden on any other county who would house your prisoners. What about the burden you place on everyone else? Those being the attorneys who represent them, any Juniata County agency that needs to visit them in jail, they now must travel to another county which means more mileage on county vehicles and fuel useage.
Since most county elected officials get to spend our money, the commissioners need to understand in these times, don't go hog wild. If you do build a new one, do it somewhere where you have room to expand in the future. Not a Taj Mahal, but a useable prison without all the bells and whistles.
Oh by the way, don't get any big ideas on building a courthouse either.
