I wish the festival were smaller. It seems it's just turned into this giant flea market--so crowded. I see some of the worst-looking people show up anymore. I think Paintsville is too small to have such a huge gathering. Maybe it needs to spread out a little. I guess we have to grow with the times, but the whole thing has lost its small town charm. It just seems loud and obnoxious.

It just seems loud and obnoxious. When I was young, it was the 3rd largest in the state of Kentucky. It has shrunk so much since then. When I come into town for the festival, the parade seems so small... and I heard they are getting rid of the Apple Bowl. It is sad how much that is has shrunk through the years.

Festival has became to commercial ...all about the money...and how much the merchant can make off the people,I often wonder how many (Check...SS....SSI) are wasted at this so called apple day...as for my self I think it just a big waste of tax payers money and a Great Big Inconvenience for the people of the area...

when it became the Kentucky Apple Festival instead of the Johnson County Apple Festival it all changed. The state has a hand in ruining it for the local people.

First,I don't think any apples are grown here any more. most are imported in from other places, and how they can block streets and make people that live in town move their autos. It's really not fair to people who live in town,I myself wonder if they took a vote,How many would vote against the so called Apple Fest. It's Past it prime time it's ended..

Personally,i think the Apple festival should be replaced by something else(anyone have any suggestions)the present festival is getting worse every year..it is worn out and has very bad management.it is too commercial also.the parade is sad.not organized like it used to be.please do something else people..the apple festival is now worn out and filthy and needs to be cleaned up.

Bring back the Old Johnson County Fair,This would be so much better,Get Reva Rose & Ray Tosti out of there.Or stop it all together. How many Apples are grown in Johnson county?None that we know of.

You Miss the whole point,Look and read the post... I am suggesting they change it to a county Fair,Let the county extension agent or Greg Mead take control.someone who is in that type of business.I am saying Apple Day has done it's due.

i remember some good apple days from the past , the festival has lost it's charm though. i wish that it would be simpler and have it that if you sell anything ..your organization should be a not for profit organization.

The comments here are awesome. The apple festival is a big part of the not for profit organizations. It has supported fire depts, built churches. Food vendors are all not for profit community organizations. folks educate yourselves before you comment. I think Ray Tosti and Reva would both love to let you put this event on. I worked my butt off for a few years as a board member of the festival. I think the board has always wanted the younger folks to step up and do some of the work. If you dont like the events of the festival, get in there and work to change it! I havent lived there for near ten years but I want to Thank all the board members who work so hard for Keeping this event live and well! Charles

I think the apple fest has went down hill. They of course now have a free concert on court street but who can even get in there to see it. It is so overly crowded. It might be a good idea to find another location, like maybe JCHS football field or maybe at the paintsville lake at the ampitheater or maybe on the new courthouse steps. And the amusement rides suck.I guess nothing never stays the same.

Charles i understand that the food venders are not for profit , how about the rest of the venders..how about this idea let the good people of johnson co. elect the board members instead of being appointed.i haven't lived in the area for 25 yrs. i see the festival going downhill every single year. by the way most of the young people in the county have to either leave as i had to or deal drugs, no work in the area.

Quit bitchin because Apple day is the best thing we have here i mean come on people ... around here the place to hang out is Walmart so i doubt very seriously many people would vote out Apple Day.

Haha Nobody is forcing you to attend Apple Day. You old people need to be at home anyways. Young people enjoy it.
