it takes a lot of self confidence to FLY in something you built yourself.

Never do your own surgery, never do your own T.V. commercials, and never build (and fly) your own airplane.
Hint: Gravity always wins.

We had to fly our own, the local kids mom wouldn't let em on our ride even though we told them it was safe and we did it hundreds of times before.......that lie didn't work.
So it was either let it sit in the hanger or draw straws.....I lost!

He built the airplane and bought the engine dumb asses. Same thing happened to roughly about 100 other airplanes, 99 of them built in a factory.

A tip from your Captain; Takeoffs are optional, landings are mandatory.

statistically, homebuilts are safer than your SUV or MiniVan! Good kit planes are very well designed -all you have to do is follow the intructions. They are usually assembled w/ extremely high integrity and closely inspected all along the process.

Gee, a slow news day in Johnson County. Not like we're having elections or anything. Nothing to see here, folks, move along, move along.
I'm not totally sure Gary but I think a plane making an emergency landing is news. Even if it is a small kit plane. Although I think the only thing that would excite you is if you saw a headline that said, "Johnson County is tearing down all buisnesses and houses to make room for more farms. Yee-Haw!"

Saw it and realized what it was too late as I was zipping by on I-65 on my way to church. Too bad I didn't have my camera aimed and focused as I was driving, huh?
