If Center Grove incorporates into Greenwood, then that will make for one huge suburb.

According to a 2007 special census, Greenwood itself has a population of 47,736. Add another 40,000 to that, and you'll have nearly 90,000 residents. That's bigger than Carmel or Fishers (but not put together).

Perhaps then Johnson County and the south side could start to develop a stronger commercial base and the high-paying jobs that we only see downtown and on the north side today.

I say incorporate!

Hold on to your wallets folks, the high taxes are headed your way! Next thing, youll be incourt fights over forced annexations because of power hungry officials and their insatiable thirst for power.
Wake up folks, this country is in a recession and reaaly close to a depression. We are very close to sseing our form of government fail as its share of take on our incomes has reached unacceptable proportions. Sadlt, all we hear from them is that leaving us more of our money will lead to ruin. Ths fact is, we need elected officials that understand that govenment was intened to be limited in scope and real cuts in the types of services nd spending must come quick.

Why does Greenwood continue to try to copy Carmel?
We alredy have one Carmel and we sure don't need another one. How about developing a unique personality and not a cookie-cutter Carmel?

before you all start thinking you can do this, look at Carmel's debt. $700,000,000+. That's a lot for these troubled times.

I for one, hope we do copy Carmel on some things- a major walking/biking trail is huge for the community. You just don't know how great it is until you have had one available to you. Don't listen to all the naysayers White River Twshp! This will be great for our community!

What O N E A R T H could Greenwood ever develop as "a unique personality"? It's never been done, in the history of suburban sprawl. Suburbs are suburbs... mere platforms for the Applebee's and Costcos of the world.

Greenwood = Brownsburg = Avon = Eden Prairie = Schaumberg = crap. It's ALL THE SAME.

"One huge suburb." Lovely. Ever been to Los Angeles? It's like that. You should move there, you'd love it.

"If Center Grove incorporates into Greenwood" - they'd be ruled by Boss Henderson. With the iron fist, or brain, from God, no less. Take a poll of CG folks, ask 'em if that's what they're after.

Uh, yeah, bubba, tell your mayor that, why dontcha. One gets the impression from reading the news lately that he's going hog nuts on that.

Knowles: ""In order for us to become a city like Carmel..."

As one of the other comments points out, it would be desireable for Center Grove to incorporate and become a city, yes, but let's rephrase that to "a city, like Carmel,..." The point being, the City of Center Grove, with its own identity.

Memo to the Star and Jason Thomas:

Your previous articles stated that this was about "county officials." The person involved is A county official, yes, but this issue is about CENTER GROVE, not the entire county. And again, your headline - "Monon inspires Johnson Co. plans" - gives the impression that this Center Grove group is planning for the entire county. Please improve your reporting in order to lessen confusion.
