Way to go Center Grove! The county/railroad wouldn't pay for it, so way to step up to help protect your community.

So now the people who are too stupid or hurried to stop, look and listen will have to swerve around the cross arms.

How about we improve the number 2 vehicle accident site in Johnson County?! When will that ever happen?! Fry Road and 31 is 100 times more dangerous at this time of year. When will this area ever get addressed?!

Oh, but the railroad is putting up $$$$ for this. Read the (vague) story a little more closely.

What a wonderful community effort to honor these two boys. Many Center Grove students drive on Stones Crossing Road each day and it is nice to know that the this road and crossing will be safer.

There is no place called "Center Grove" in Indiana.

I know you are referring to the school, because there is no place named Center Grove in Indiana.

See the railroad has their hired guns out in force.

Someone besides the state/feds all cozy with the railroads needs to check where the $7.2 million Federal crossing safety funds with a 10% state match goes every year.If the truth was known the railroad brass and their state/federal handmaidens would be in a very nasty jail for a very long time.

There is no reason we should be paying like $20,000 just to get crossing equipment to site,$40,000 plus for a 6 foot by 6 foot tool shed, weeks of extra labor costs with all the bennies tacked on,etc...

Take a close look at crossing gates and there isn't that much to them. A signal is sent up the track hopefully going back through the train wheels back turning the gates on. BIG whoop WHY $165,000 for this non reliable antique set-up while railroads pay nothing? In fact they will make a small fortune off these 3 projects.

what a bunch of chodes

True but let's not get too worried about it. There's no town called Geist either but everyone knows what you're referring to.

Technically you are right. But that doesn't matter. The area is called Center Grove. Don't be a tool. The council for this area did something good for the community. Why don't you look at that.

Honestly, if you don't live down in that area or know about the accident or that two little boys lost their lives then you should seriously not say anything.

Well I do, and I do. And it was someone not paying attention, not waiting when a train was coming through. It's not at all difficult to stop, roll down the windows and figure out if a train is coming. They make lots of noise. They have loud air horns. they have flashing headlights. They are really, really, easy to see coming even when they are a mile away. But the secret is (and feel free to spread it around) YOU HAVE TO PAY ATTENTION TO YOUR DRIVING AND YOUR SURROUNDINGS.

Sorry, but crossing arms will only serve to make those same kinds of inattentive drivers swerve and keep on going around the arms. And still people will be hand-wringing and lamenting about the terrible danger of the railroad crossings.

Not nearly as offensive as failing to pay attention and wait for an oncoming train instead of pulling out in front of it, causing multiple deaths.
