Why does no one seem concerned about the fact that a 15 year old and a 14 year old were having sex? I thought the age of consent was 16?

I agree with you completely! I detect no outrage over two wet behind the ears kids having sex, probably unprotected at that. One wonders if the parents expressed any outrage over this incident and disciplined the two for their indiscretions. What an awful mess this is but the media seems to be preoccupied with the fact that the kids are sexting, not that they were having sex at a very young age!

I agree whole heartedly with "Curious" and "JanetM". I see NO CONCERN about the childrens actions, only with the latest trend "sexting"...and no child NEEDS a cellphone...give me a break!!!

Why should there be outrage at 14 and 15 year olds heaving sex it is all part and parcel of what the Hollywood left has been portraying for the last several decades. Why would you expect kids no to push the envelope it has been all they have seen and heard from the entrainment industry. Couple that with the fact most parents won’t parent and you have exactly what you are seeing.

This is a huge problem and continues to get worse! Personally, I would not want to intrude on my daughter's privacy but if she gave me a reason to, I would be left with no choice.(Of course, she is only 14 - I would probably just turn my cheek once she turns 18):(- I did find a solution online from textguard and they can be found at textguard.com - the only problem is you need to have a smartpohone which is connected to the internet.- Small price to pay for peace of mind and safety though for your "little one.

I don't think it's fair to assume no one is concerned about the kids having sex. The story just happens to be about 'sexting.' I'm sure the parents are very concerned.

It's not "sexting", it's distribution of child por.nography. Use the correct legal term Channel 8 instead of trying to be cute.

I agree with the other posters the behavior of the two teenagers is disgusting - what horrible irresponsible parents and an embarrassment to Johnson County. Next thing the female will be knocked up and it'll be the taxpayers footing the bill. All three should be in jail.

Why is typical teenage behavior now a criminal matter? The puritanical behavior of Americans never ceases to amaze me.

Kids have been having sex for quite some time, you know. It wasn't invented by Hollywood, despite what many of you puritanical freaks would like to claim.

So what if a cell phone was involved. Blaming cell phones is like blaming any tool and any parents who are overly concerned about the fact that cell phones might be used for sex should be more concerned about teaching their kids things like safe sex, or making sure it is taught.

They're going to do stuff like this one way or another. Teenagers will be teenagers. The only thing parents should be concerned with is wither they're doing it safely.

Bob I agree with your comment about parenting, your comment about Hollywood is off base. Parents need to parent, not be friends! I remember as a teenager my mother getting in my face (I am 53 y/o now)telling me she was my mother and not my "buddy" and that until I became an adult and lived on my own, her rules RULED. At the time I wasn't really happy but as I grew up I understood her. As a teen you sometimes make poor decisions- having sex at 14 and 15 y/o is a poor decision. Hanging out with scummy people is another poor decision. I can only hope the parents of these girls help them understand how poor decisions can affect them for the rest of their lives.

do you honestly think a 14 and 15 year old are going to go to their parents and ask for them to give consent to their having sex right then? no. not going to happen.
everyone is acting as though this is the first time a 14 and 15 year old have ever had sex. no this is the first time a 14 and 15 year old have had sex AND were exposed like this.
parents of teenagers, all of you can learn from this as well. whether you think your teen is having sex or not i suggest you have an open conversation with them WITHOUT anger. need help on how to do so? maybe you should watch the MTV show "Sex...With Mom and Dad" for some pointers on how to open up to your teen.
and meanwhile all of you parents remember this quote...
“Who are you to judge the life I live? I know I'm not perfect and I don't live to be. But, before you start pointing fingers, make sure your hands are clean.”----Bob Marley
