Army To Prosecute N.Y. Burglary, Assault Case

The Army will prosecute 11 Fort Drum soldiers accused of assaulting a military couple in retaliation for the arrest of another soldier.
The Jefferson County District Attorney's office agreed to transfer the case to Fort Drum officials, who asked Tuesday for jurisdiction to be transferred to the military courts.
Nine of the soldiers still in custody have been transferred to military pre-confinement in Onondaga County, said Fort Drum spokesman Ben Abel. The two other soldiers were released on their own recognizance and are currently under the authority of their unit. Read more
