Those wonderful useless restraining orders should also have a clause added if found pointing gun at someone - orders are to shot to kill for police. The restraining orders just piss off the people their issued to which in turn never protects the victim.

A restraining order is absolutely useless. What are you supposed to do...hold a piece of paper in front of you while they punch or shot you??? The worst thing is that if you have a restraining order you can still be charged if you defend yourself. Police don't do anything until it's too late.

Until we are in the police officers positions I don't think we have a right to judge if they did the right thing or not. These men and women put there lives on the line everyday. It's a split second decision. They did everything they could and I commend them. It's a terrible thing to have to take a life. I pray for the family of the victim and the suspect. I also pray for the deputies that had to take action. Seeing it and then having to do what they did must have been horrible. I just pray that all the parties involved in this horrific situation get through it

I understand what you are saying, but is it the police's job to protect people. The way the laws are written now the police can do nothing until someone is hurt. That's BS. The police let this woman die.

Donna - This was such a tragedy and you have every right to question why more wasn't done to protect her. I grieve with you and the rest of the family.

As you stated the laws a wrote where the police can do nothing until someone is hurt... The police are not the ones writting the laws its the Reps and senators that you have elected that are writting the laws that keep the police from doing the job the way you want it done...Dont complain about the police..I would start with the law makers!!!!

Rem...I completely agree with you. It's our law makers and judges. The police can only do so much. They are the middle man. It's the judges that need to have harsher sentences, and really doesn't even stop there it's who we elect in office that really have the control. So you are correct, we need to start with the law makers! The police officers did what they had to do given the situation!
