This is common in any type of jail or prison. What was done right... was finding it, and reporting it as policy, and the law requires. Now what do you think of a PRISON, finding very large quantities of the same type stuff, i.e., marijuana, tobacco, skoal, liquor, cigarettes, even Chrystal Meth... and NOT REPORTING IT?? NOT EVEN INVESTIGATING IT, AND THEN GETTING RID OF THE EVIDENCE... BUT EVERYBODY AT THE PRISON "KNOWS". Well that is business as usual in the Arkansas Department of Corruption's, Tucker Max Unit - All at the "INFAMOUS HORSE BARN"
Why do we tax-payers keep allowing this blatant type of corruption in our prisons to continue???

Anything available on the streets is available in the our prison system. It's not only a matter of knowing someone , it's a matter of being willing and able to pay the institutional price.
Anything from a prostitute to a pint of gin.
The amount found here is menial compared to what remains in the jail.
Brought in by corrupt officers , visiting families and other means.
One method of smuggling in contraband is discovered and 5 more are created. Some work , some don't.
These inmates have 24 hours a day to find ways to study the guards , the daily routine of the unit's operation and devise ways to make the contraband blend into the routine without so much as raising an eyebrow .
Any former inmate or seasoned guard will tell you a very , very small percentage of corruption and contraband is actually discovered and reported.
I worked at Tucker also and what goes on there is unbelievable. The corruption has existed since the prison system was formed and there's very little that can be done to stop it. Slow it down maybe, stop it ....never.

I totally agree. You can slow it down but unless you find officers that are there to actually do their job and not be just a warm body drawing a paycheck, you will never stop it. I worked at the Diagnostic Unit and I sat in a tower one day and watched as a Capt. threw a lit cigarette out of his truck window for an inmate that was picking up trash in the parking lot, reported it, but no paperwork was ever found to follow up on. Officers bring this stuff in everyday. Shakedowns on individuals are not performed as should be. Until you get the corrupt blue suits out, contraband will be there to stay.
