County jail feels pressure, relief from inmate quota

There are 1 comment on the Island Packet story from Apr 3, 2007, titled County jail feels pressure, relief from inmate quota. In it, Island Packet reports that:

“Maybe this is to keep us quiet for a while, and then we'll be back on quotas”

A weekly quota on the number of inmates Beaufort County's jail could send to the state prison system had exacerbated overcrowding, but in the last two months, the jail director says, there has been relief. via Island Packet

reporters have yet to confront the unjust sentencing of family court violaters which was and is the problem to the overcrowdness at the detention center due to the fact that there is not a work release program and no alternate sentencing. Furthermore it would be nice if you all could state how much money beaufort county is saving by repeating the process of slave labor.
