I did read a spell once that called for "3 cat whiskers" written by a Wiccan.
She made it very clear that you should clip them, not pull them out, as that would hurt the cat.

Must be a slow day on Topix with so many dead cat threads.

The author claims that Wiccans do sacrifice animals! I found that her profile can be accessed by clicking on the "More About Janice" link in the blurb on the right hand side of the page. Her profile includes a link for sending her a public message. Lots of comments are being posted on the article itself, but I think it's important to make the attempt to make sure she gets the idea that her comments are beyond inappropriate! The only problem is you have to register for USA Today, but I didn't have a problem with that.

I wouldn't even do that, unless I collected them- I have found a few before cleaning up. They need those whiskers!

I wouldn't cut them, either. That can cause problems for the cats. Once when I was little, I decided one of our cats needed a "haircut", and trimmed his whiskers. When they grew back in, they were curly!

I had no intention of doing it either.
Most cats don't like their whiskers to be touched in any way.
And I am very allergic to...pain.
