He has "no plans to sell the 400 books he stole". Doubt that he'll read them either.

Probably a Bibleoclepto... Bib-leo-clep-toe...
Loves books and loves to read and falls in love with the books but hates taking them back. It is not about money, it is about the book and the intimacy of holding the Tome in ones hands, carressing the pages as it transports the mind. Reading a good (Real not virtual)book can be like being with your lover no body likes, very personal
and hard to explain... Go easy on him boys... It's not like he put duct take over its mouth and lied about it... Just give the books back, void his card and slapp him with a fine... He can always go buy them at the junk store...

WOW, this man has a 'fixation' on stealing property that does not belong to him. He clearly has issues. You sound too intimate to know the workings of this mans mind. I know law students who won't let go of outdated law books but they still find a way to recycle them. I don't say this man has created anything worth jail time but scaring him with something could help justify what is in the back of his mind for doing this. Yes, cut him some slack but don't justify his crime with answers like 'he is a book lover and can't let go because it transports his mind'. I know a lot of patients that are taking medication for this.
