It is imperative that the legislature pass Gov. Easley's proposal to increase the cigarette tax to fund improvements to the mental health system.

Ronald why don't we charge the crazy people a tax for the mental health system? Why should only smokers pay for that? Not all smokers are crazy. Besides the way people are quitting that well is going to go dry one day then what will you want to tax?

Add tofu, soy beans, coffee lattes and women with unshaved legs to that list. All those things make me extremely anxious.

Article doesn't have anything to do with smoking tax.

Provisionally licensed workers in the mental health field are usually supervised by professionals in their own specialty — other therapists, counselors and psychologists. The new state rule would allow them to be supervised only by a physician, such as a psychiatrist, if they are to receive Medicaid reimbursement.

Tara Larsen, of the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services, said the new rule will draw more family-practice physicians into the mental health system, but service providers and advocates say the new rule would severely limit where and how people with provisional licenses could work.

It's the good idea considering the problems of the mental health industry.

The Implementation Update was posted by the Division of Mental Health and can be found on their website. It's #43 and #44. http://www.ncdhhs.gov/mhddsas/servicedefiniti...

The system is a huge mess. I work in it and I'm about ready to bail out. The chaos caused by bureaucrats trying to "build a plane while flying it." It doesn't work. It will crash.

Actually more and more agencies have begun to hire clinicians who are already fully licensed. This has been taken place within the Dept of VA for the past 4-5 years.

When I worked at one state agency here in El Paso, most of their case wrokers were not licensed. That has changed since than and now anyone being hired is required to be fully licensed.

Cheers

The Icelandic maker of these pills said the medicine were released from its facility with more than twice the regular active ingredient, potentially exposing patients to a double-dose of the medicine. Actavis claims only 11 people were injured from being exposed to the defective drugs, but it’s likely there are more. Libra

Don't hold anything in, especially an emotional burden. The only way to drown the past is to open the floodgates. If you've got something to say, come right out and say it. The only people who might be offended by your honesty don't really matter in the grand scheme of things anyway, Libra. Great changes flow smoothly through your day. When you take charge, everyone feels at home.
