If a jury convicts a person, the governor should not be allowed to pardon that person unless evidence has been presented to him showing that the person is innocent. If the governor has evidence, I think he should have to demand a retrial. I can see that he should be able to stop an execution, but not give a pardon - this was a very bad move in my opinion.

I just realized this morning that this news (BIG NEWS!) hasn't appeared on this forum this week. I was coming over this morning to bring it up and get the take from people back home.

So, I know cipsaw is only one person - a rather small sample size - but it sounds like Gov. Barbour made a grave error in the eyes of the citizens of Mississippi.

From all I have heard he has made a grave error - he had thought about running for president in this election - I don't know what his future plans are maybe just retirement. I would not support him in another public office. I don't really understand why he did this - money maybe.

Grapevine has it that he's going back to doing what he does best, lobbying in DC. He was working for Mexico prior to becoming governor. Way to many MS jobs went there and he was their "employee".
I never thought he would be elected governor of MS after doing that, but I do blame a lot of votes cast for him on the rumor he put out on Ronnie Musgrove.
I feel for the families of the murder victims! They are suffering alot right now, I'm sure. I hope the DAs and other officials can stop some of this!!!

Wouldnt it be great if someone could dig deep enough to find something serious enough to put him in prison for a while? LOL!

I remember hearing a rumor that a relative of his swindled a large sum of money from FEMA after Katrina. It seems it had something to do with fema trailers. But then it must not have been true because I never heard any more on the subject.

With this pardon sh*t being a hot topic, hopefully an investigative reporter will nose around.

My question is why? I can see if maybe he had a couple of close friends that talked him into a pardon for someone - but why so many? There has to be a motive behind this - I hope it was something dishonest and he gets in big trouble.

Four murderers were pardoned and MS may have to issue a nation wide man hunt according to the net - if one of these people kills someone, I think the governor should have to serve time with him. This is just shocking to me.

Baloney - I say just turn them all out then, give us all a gun and let us handle it. That was a grave mistake in my opinion. If even one of these folks commits a crime, he should have to serve twice their next sentence.

Haley Barbour needs to let Jesus deal with the forgiveness for these murderers we the victims were depending on Justice, we went through the Law and the system and did everything we were supposed to do and these people were convicted by Juries and Judges, A lot of money was spent to put these people behind bars where they couldn't hurt us and this one man Un-Did our Justice. he should be ashamed of himself.

I totally agree with you - it is not up to him to forgive these people, they have not hurt his family.

I just don't understand his thinking behind this. Did he have a Dictator Complex? I wonder if he could have done this at the end of his first term, and then have to run again, if he would have still done it?

He knew he would not win - he can't be stupid enough to think this would not come back to bite him.

My heart goes out to Tonya and the families of all the victims where the murderers were let out of prison by our so called governor. The families have been through enough and now they are having to deal with what this idiot did!! The useless death of Tonya's father and the death of Adrian, Grahams ex-wife were dispicable, yet their killers are allowed out to walk the streets to kill others. What was Barbour thinking? Or was he thinking? No one should have been released i.e. drug dealers, forgers, cattle rustlers, but to release someone who has murdered another person is beyond me. Don Simpson and Adrian Klasky were certainly innocent and had committed no crime when they were shot at "point blank" range!!! Then after a trial and sentencing, Barbour released their killers. WHY?

I just watched this fruit cake on the news, he says that he feels at perfect peace over these pardons - he said he is not saying that none of them will commit another crime, but he is content about it. Apparently some of them worked in the governor's mansion and he claims to know them - I do not believe he knows over 200 prisoners. The tax payers should file suit against him.
