Hearne shooting civil case settled
An unarmed man shot by a Jackson County sheriff's reserve deputy in 2004 reached a confidential settlement with Jackson County on the third day of his civil trial alleging an inadequately trained deputy acted with "gross negligence" and "excessive force." U.S. District Judge Louis Guirola Jr.
