<quoted text> The way you got your nose out of joint makes me think it was you posting. I reported the posts and hope they were removed, but I haven't checked. Big Boy said about the little boy killed by the lawnmower: "So do I call him lawnmower boy now?" About the worker killed on the arsenal he posted: "I wonder what satan is doing with him right now". I wonder why you took such offense at my posts but had nothing to say about his. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmm. As far as admitting that I was wrong, considering your attitude I'm not so sure I was.
If you had looked back in the archives the only post I made was about Big Rig Driver making horrible comments about these two accidents.I've had plenty to say about idiots like that posting crap when familiies are hurting the most. No one cares what you think about me or my attitude but there are a few people who post on this forum that do matter.

Obviously you do not know the area well. There are hundreds of government contractors at TVA from Monday through Thursday of each week. How do I know this? I work at a local hotel that houses them through the weekdays. I know this doesn't pertain to Mr. Gant and his situation, but thought you should know about the local businesses since you are obviously uneducated on that particular subject.
Oh, well, then! I guess working at that plan form 1979 to 1985, going through the layoff, and living within sight of the cooling towers for the rest of my life means nothing. Thank you for enlightening me.

Now, are you going to tell me these 'hundreds' of workers (who are apparently carpooling so hard it would make a Mexican immigrant jealous; the traffic change is not even noticeable going in and out) are on standby with the local police departments? Sheesh, this place is et up with silliness...

Just a few recent news stories....maybe this will prove those "invisible" beings do exist at TVA. The change there is amazing and helping the economy of this small town tremendously.

The police and fire station is less than a mile away. Not only that, but Hollywood police frequently come around there. Security measures and cameras are in place to protect the students as well as a quick response lock-down procedure.

Just a few recent news stories....
A story about TVA buying wind power from the Midwest.
A story about TVA hosting fundraisers for Collins Elementary.
A story about TVA intending to complete Bellefonte (de ja vu anyone?).
Another story about TVA's intent to complete Bellefonte.
A story about TVA intending to locate a training facility in Hollywood.
A story about TVA deciding whether to complete Bellefonte.

TVA has been talking about completing Bellefonte since 1990. In the meantime the plant is still sitting there idle and unfinished, in the same condition it was in when it was abandoned in 1985. You might also be interested in knowing that TVA is not based in Hollywood; it is based in Knoxville TN.

Most of the systems at Bellefonte are incomplete. There is no longer any fuel on site. There is no construction activity taking place. The only people employed are a few security guards to keep would-be thieves from stealing anything, and they cannot leave their posts. So again, how exactly is the proximity of an unfinished, closed nuclear plant some measure of security for a nearby school from a gunman?

This time try finding stories that actually support your position.

Again, Hollywood has one officer on duty at a time. He sometimes parks around the school because there are several pulloffs he can use to hide and use his radar gun, just as he does in front of Hollywood Elementary just up the road, or the truck stop in the other direction. He rarely if ever actually visits the school.

I almost responded to your allegations over security in detail, but considering that the school has no weapons for protection now, I will not. I'll just say you have no idea what you are talking about.

I'm going to keep challenging the BS on here, so you guys might as well stop spreading it. This ain't LA, or even Huntsville. It's a small rural town of under 1000 people. That number includes me.

"There are hundreds of government contractors at TVA from Monday through Thursday of each week." ??
"over a year"

Here is current info from Chatt news.
"Current staff: 80 employees and contractors working on assessment and plant preservation"
http://www.timesfreepress.com/news/2009/dec/1...
they have made some bathroom repairs, replaced some burnt out light bulbs and some carpet in THREE years...... doubt that took HUNDREDS of workers.

There are at least five TVA operations in Scottsboro, not counting Bellefonte in Hollywood. Do a google map search for "TVA Scottsboro" and you will see an operation out toward Letcher, the Power System Operation (substation I believe) in Goosepond, The TVA PSC on Crawford drive, and another unspecified operation on Cherokee Drive (out towards the river on AL 35).

There is also the Widows Creek Steam Plant in Stevenson which is in full operation.

Just because they work for TVA does not mean they work at Bellefonte.

Oh, and your eyes are gonna get stuck like that.:D

My child attends this school as well, and we are very proud to have had monte gant there. I only hope he will be able to return soon. This all sounds like alot of anti-gun nonsense to me. Personally, I was grateful to hear that someone was there who would protect the students if and when the situation called for it. As far as your daughter not returning if mr. gant does..so what! My family will fully support Monte, and be there to vote for his father, Cecil Gant!!!(by the way, your references to your child being in the gifted program are getting to be a bit much, WE SEE IT ALREADY!!!)
Keep supporting him right on to jail....he not protecting you or your children. He was protecting himself...Sounds like someone has a quilty conscience........He's got you fooled....I agree with the parent with the gifted child...I wouldn't let my children be anywhere he is a principal or teacher.

OK, OK, I get it. You like the idea of controlling guns, so something written on the back of a card should take precedence over the law.
Let me guess, you will change that position 180 degrees when you like the law better than the card, right?
TheRedneck
OK, so you worked for TVA. Let me ask you a Question that I already know the answer to. Are TVA employees allowed to bring firearms onto TVA property (nuclear power plants in particular) and keep them in their desks? The answer is no. It's federal property and you can be charged with posession of a firearm on federal property for such actions. Here is the title and code :

U.S. Code TITLE 18 > PART I > CHAPTER 44 > 930
Prev | Next 930.

Possession of firearms and dangerous weapons in Federal facilities
(a) Except as provided in subsection (d), whoever knowingly possesses or causes to be present a firearm or other dangerous weapon in a Federal facility (other than a Federal court facility), or attempts to do so, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than 1 year, or both.

(subsection d provided for law enforcement officers on duty) By definition since federal money is used to fund and purchase Alabama schools and the land that they sit on they can be concidered Federal property if the Attorney General of the United States were to persue the matter. It's not good enough to just guess about the law, but to know it.

Monte has issues it seems. Why carry a gun let the local law enforcement take care of the harrsement. Look into his background he is not stable and has not been for years. I feel sorry for him, he needs help.

hmmm.. tihnk its no deadly crime? what if someones child was hurt? or what if the gun was used too harm ppl at UAH?! its unneccessary. everyone needs too follow the law. Yes, I can understand why he did bring a gun too school, but what about everyone else?? what about the children? Since the teacher brought thhe gun, what will the children do? Bring guns also? its stupid. Grow up.

When seconds count, the police are minutes away!(sometimes longer). I wouldn't want to bet my life on them showing up in time to prevent a serious crime or death.

I don't know Monte or his situation, if he's nuts, then no, he shouldn't be armed. If all criminals knew that everyone carried a gun, they would think twice before attacking someone for sure.
