Aren't all attacks "hate crimes?"
I think the numbers have gone up because crimes have been broken down into sub-groups. We don't know how many gays were attacked thirty years ago, because it was just called a crime then, not a hate crime.

Looking at this from a logical standpoint: I don't believe in using violence, but don't we have every right to discriminate against homosexuals? Hasn't it been proven by science that homosexuality is a mental disorder that is treatable?

We should institutionalize homosexuals until they are fixed, functioning members of society. Brain scans and studies show that further mental deterioration is brought about by prolonged homosexuality.

No, quite the opposite. The findings to date all lean toward a biological cause for homosexuality.

Liar. There are no legitimate studies that show anything of the sort.

Maybe if you went to college in the 50's when they thought it was a mental disorder. It has since been removed from that list by every reputable psychological organization. I dont know what studies you looked at, but maybe you should go to a school with updated textbooks or better yet, sue the school for a poor education.
Homosexuality is a biological condition not a mental one.

NO ONE deserves to be beat up for being gay. I don't agree with it(homosexuality) but for Pete's sake can't people rise above cave-man mentality? God, what if that's your child or friend or relative? geez isn't there something more constructive to do than pick on people?

First of all it is person, not personal. Also your should be you're as in you are. Also, although I am not a liberal, liberals are also Americans. If they are citizens of this country, they have a right to voice their opinion, no matter how much I or anyone else does not agree with them. Now that we are all aware that you need additional schooling in English and Civics...what is so vile about respecting other peoples' rights. You better be careful what you wish for, one day someone in the government will start a campaign against something you care about. I couldn't care less if someone was born gay or born straight. If they are a good person and don't hate other people, I will embrace them as my friend. Let's face it people, no matter how you want to group people together, each group has extremists, and people who won't tolerate other beliefs. I figure that if God wants to deal with something, he sure doesn't need my help or opinion. However, I would imagine he's not real happy with all the hate in the world IMO. You all have the right to go on hating. I choose not to, as life is to short to spend it nosing in other peoples' business.

Sadly, increased violence toward homosexuals is the natural reaction to radical homosexual efforts to try to undemocratically force their contrived philosophies on others.

The Boston Globe reported that the same thing has happened in MA after citizens there were disenfranchised on the legal definition of marriage.

In my opinion, it should not matter whether the victim of a hate crime is gay or black or whatever. There is no place in our society for anyone who feels it is right to attack someone because he disagrees with the person's feelings or color. Hate is hate, regardless who it is directed at. Would it be OK to attack someone who you think is gay, even if he isn't? As I said, hate, in and of itself, is wrong.
