Good Day,
I support this judge's descision. First... I have always thought baiting is like cheating. If you can't hunt without bait, you don't have the skills to hunt in the first place, and therfore shouldn't be in the woods in the first place. More importantly is the very real threat of spreading disease through the deer population. And I think that is the core of the issue. People forget just how big deer hunting is to Michigan. I have read estimates as high as a billion dollars being spent in the State due to deer season alone!

I agree. That's why I only fish with a bare hook. Cheaters! If you can't catch fish with a bare hook, you're not a true fisherman.

baiting deer and fishing with bait are worlds apart...
baiting fish would be more like dropping a worm in the same spot day after day, week after week, then suddenly swinging a hook through the water and snatching a fish...
fishing for deer would be more like firing off a salt covered round every few minutes, at random, and hoping a deer steps in front of it to lick it...
It's illegal to bait fish. It's called chumming.

Not allowing hunters to bait deer means the deer will be more apt to invade the farmers feed stock on the farmers land and spread the disease. Baiting deer will bring the deer to the bait piles more often and less often to the farmers feed stock. The baiting ban will only help spread the disease. DNR has no proof it even exists in areas other than the penned in deer facility. What a drag on the economy.

Everyone needs to stop their bitching. It's a fact that deer become more active when the bait piles are not in place. I used to bait, not last year or this year and I have seen more bucks and does then any other year without bait. The deer still have to eat and their going to have to look for food instead of going to a bait pile at night when your sleeping. Try not baiting, I'm sure you will still see deer, and most importantly, they probably won't be spooky thinking that your not around.

Yeah, they are much more active...... on the neighboring private property enjoying the food plots, farm crops, ponds and orchards.
