Meetings on Detroit's finances must be open

Meetings of the state-appointed team reviewing Detroit's finances are subject to Michigan's Open Meetings Act and must be conducted in public, an Ingham County judge ruled Monday.

This is a big win for Bob Davis who has been dogging these closed meetings in Detroit and Wayne county. Many closed meetings have already taken place. The judge put no sanction on those. He only demanded that the ship be righted going forward. This will put a little crimp in the way these people deal with public funds and even the way they speak about us.

Good! It's about time. Too bad common sense needs a court order.
