What is happening on this investigation? Several things seem odd about this. How was the buffalo killed? A gun or knife or what? How much did it weigh and how long would it take to skin it? Depending on how big it was, would it have taken more than one person to do this? How did they know which one of the buffalo herd was the mother? Wasn't someone supposed to be watching over the white buffalo? Was it insured? What happens to the donated reward money if they never solve it?

Jason, I believe these are all good questions too! When I saw this on the news, first of all, it broke my heart! Secondly, I was asking similar questions. At least as far as how would some"one" pull this off, I believe the indian said that he was still nursing...how could anyone get past the mother buffalo to do this? She would have killed them to protect her baby! But like you I thought the whole thing sounded odd! If it is left up to our Sheriffs Office to solve....yea, good luck on that one. This will probably be a question left unanswered unless the baby and mama had insurance and the insurance agency suspects fraud.

I heard it had turned brown, so how did they know which one it was? And if it WAS brown, why would they skin it? Did they come back another day to kill the mother buffalo? And how on earth would they know which one she was? This is just too weird. And the father was killed by lightning (father of LIGHTNING Medicine Cloud!) I hope someone on the ball is looking into this...

Yea me to Samantha. The news said that the mother was also killed but the paper said the indian guy said that she layed down @ the place that she gave birth to the white buffalo and died 2 days after he'd been killed. So I'm not sure what the "real" story is and will probably never know!

The newspaper reported that she was found the next day, not that she laid down. A copy of the veterinarian's final report was not available as of Tuesday and when it is, it will be reported at that time.

Local Dude, how about the insurance and what will happen to the reward money if this is never solved?
