Does anyone know about stolen funds and destroyed land records at the Hudspeth County office within the past several months? The reason I ask, I purchased land in Hudspeth County when I checked with the clerk to see if the land was recorded they said they have no record of it. I contacted the land seller and he informed me county funds were stolen and land recordeds were destroyed. Any truth to this?

Who did you buy the property from? Sounds like you have been scammed! People should know about this. Was the land purchased on the internet? Who held the auction? Less yell real loud!

When was your last property recorded? There is something fishy going on out there in hudspeth county, I called the clerks office around the time of the alleged theft, they told me my deed was going out that day, so they had a record of it because they found it. After 2 weeks I didn't receive it, I called back they have all different people working there and told me they have no record of it. I don't believe the seller is scamming me, not yet anyway because he owns and operates the entire subdivision out side of el paso in Hudspeth county. Its the Cerro Alto Subdivision, they offer 1 and 10 acre lots with a community water system, septic installation and electric. The seller has a sales office right there and he still there answering the phone. He hasen't run off yet.

My lots were recorded about a year ago. I do believe there is confusion at the recorders office. About six months ago I got a tax notice for a lot about a mile from my lot that I did not buy. I called the recorders office and was told it was ok. I said what is ok. I asked to speak to the recorder. I asked her if my name was on the lot I didn't own she said no. I asked why I was sent a tax notice. She hesitated and said most of the raw property out there is not survayed and some mistakes are made but eventually cleared up. My opinion is the County Clerks office was swamped with deeds and has poorly trained help. Keep me posted

I sent deed and money in some time back and waited for the tax bills, nothing came. I called and called and nothing no one has or knows anything. I can not find the money order stub and I did not make a copy at the time of the deed. More time goes by and still no tax bill. I finally get a hold of the seller and they send me a copy of the deed I have sent that off last month. Kind of funny running into this forum, seeing I'm positive I sent that money and deed paperwork in, then having to do it again. I was hoping it was just me forgettin. Iíll post when the deed gets back to me recorded correctly.

Don't put too much money in Hudspeth County. With out surveys and title insurance those people can sell land they don't own. It would take 10 lawyers and 20 years to clear up a contested deed. Buyer beware!

Was told it would take up to 12 weeks for them to record anything. Kind of slow to record extremely fast on cashing the money order.

I called the clerks office this week and they claim my deed has been recorded, finally however, they say it will be another 30 days before I receive a copy of it. I've been screwing around with these people for about 7 months now and I really don't trust anything they say. We will see how long it really takes to receive the deed or if the damn thing has really been recorded.
The clerk is located in Sierra Blanca, has anyone seen Sierra Blanca, the town looks like the aftermath from a nuclear attack.

I haven't seen the place physically but I've examined the area using satellite maps. I spoke to a dude in the tax office one day. He said everyone works for the city, county ,state or federal government. Border patrol is a good revenue source.
It's my opinion some unforeseen activity will be needed to make any property there worth anything at all. It's a cheap throw of the dice. Maybe the private rocket launch site or a wind farm. Maybe an army firing range? luck to all!

One more thought. Last year my lot tax was 2 dollars. This year it was 5 dollars. I think they are getting a little interested in milking that property! A bunch of trailer trash beaners out there. Nothing like cash from absentee owners to line you pockets. JMO

Our government says it's good for America to let the beaners come in. Problem is they come but don't go back and we are left with the mess they make. Check out places like Pecos, or Sierra Blanca, you won't believe the mess. These areas look like the aftermath of a nuclear attack and I'm not kidding! The beaners are living in old junk cars with a plywood room attachment, old junk campers you name it. Just travel I-10 you can see the living conditions from the highway. The towns are run down dumps and nobody cares. The county says to build a house I must have a minimum of 720 sq ft yet the beaners are allowed to live in junk cars and allowed to build additions to the junk car. I just don't get it! What is the government thinking?

The government is thinking these people will populate this country 20 to 50 years from now. They will be the new soldiers. They will be the new class of people that struggle to middle and upper class and provide the labor and energy to keep this country great. The spoiled brats and rap singers won't defend the American way of life. The beaners will! Look at the kids coming out of high schools today. They need liposuction and artificial knees!

On the topic of building. Which I have no plans to do. I buy raw property for my children. I have done very well in Fl.and NV.
About 3 years ago I asked the Hudspeth county recorder if I could build on my 2 lots. She said ,sure if you can find them. I asked how do you assess tax on a property that you don't know it's location. She said she can find it on a map but would need a survayer to preciely put her foot on the ground. I said I guess I could put down a trailer anywhere and live there. She said that was true. She said IF I drilled for water I could sell it to my neighbors that would soon show up. She said the city of Sierra Blanca gets its wells from 30 miles away. I said what about a wind farm there .She said the power lines could not handle additional power. They are maxed out from El Paso now. It's a crap shoot out there. Good luck!

These people come across the border and set up make shift houses anywhere and everywhere. The problem is its totally out of control! I'm lucky where I bought land, I have frontage on a paved road with electric service and the development provides the water. I just need to install a septic system which the developer will do for me and I'm golden. I currently live in Florida I bought land in Texas because I'm sick of the flordia rain, mosquitoes and hurricains. My land is located about 30 miles east of El Paso annual rainfall is about 9" Florida gets that much in a day. I don't plan on moving anytime soon unless I get wiped out in the next hurricain.

I had the Florida deal for about 4 years. The humidity and bugs were horrible. They tax you down there like it's paradise. The sulfur water sucks. Go west young man!

OMG!!! Ok, I need clarity... I purchased a land in Hudspeth Co. 2 weeks ago from Mike Stephens, LP. I phoned the Abstract Office in Dell City and the man NEW NOTHING about Mr. Stephens. Now, Mr. Stephens has been selling lands since 2001 and many of his lands are in Texas. He seems like a very honest man. But I fear for the location I purchased. It's 4 miles away from Dell City.
The Property Is Located in The Dell Valley Farming Community of DELL CITY, TEXAS which is in the Northeastern Corner of HUDSPETH COUNTY, about 90 miles away from El Paso...
Now, I know there has been issues about Hudspeth Co. being used for dumping stuff from New York, were I am from, and nuclear wastes...
Can the see the beauty of Texas; gorgeous mountains!!! Gosh! Can we do anything about it! who do we contact in reference to the land I purchased to see if Mr. Stephens was the owner...Were can I get more information related to the issue...
Madeline...
