Man, officer shot in Laurel are identified

Howard County police have released the identities of a man who was shot and killed early Saturday at a hotel in Laurel and of the officer he shot and injured.

The suspect was identified as Aaron Mason Lowry, 31, of Washington, who was wanted on several warrants, including attempted murder and robbery. The officer, Cpl. Cal Bowers, a Prince George's County sheriff's deputy, suffered a gunshot wound in the abdomen in the incident. He was in serious but stable condition over the weekend at the Maryland Shock Trauma Center after surgery on Saturday. Read more
