John Hopkins has a reputation of being the best phlantropy in terms of "providing state of the art care" and I personally have a subscription to their magazine and they provide good information. The Journal Of the Medical Association has hailed them as "the best in the country" and they are generating more revenue from their clientele and the government.

As was pointed out in the article, people used to learn these things at the dinner table. They also learned these things just from living with parents who practiced them.

Today's children don't see much of their parents because both parents have to work in order to support the household. Kids are pretty much left to their own devices, and kids don't have the impulse control or the judgment that adults have - or are supposed to have. Perhaps what we need to do is arrange our economy so that at least one parent (whether that parent is mom or dad is irrelevant) is at home when the children come home from school and is there with them until they are sound asleep in their beds. Parents are unable to really parent their children today, and that's why so many kids are being "mean."

Too bad it'll never work. People , especially our teens , just don't care. I sick of minorities crying they are being targted when they are ones causing all the trouble. Start this at home and people won't need bumper stickers .

My mother raised four children alone when my father passed away and we were very young. She had to work everyday and managed to make sure we ate together. It has nothing to do with the old days or today. It has something to do with the strength and demand your children to do right. Today teens need my mother trust me.

Most parents are very very young these days and their grand-parents are in their early twenties and thirties. Most of the problem is they are having babies too young and still want to go out on the play ground. You have great-great grand-mothers that are in their fifties and they are they one that are raising the babies, the babies mother and the grand mother.

Common courtesy starts at home. There are way too many parents who believe that their kids need to 'express themselves' without punishment and then are shocked to see just what they are capable of doing. Parents need to step up and be parents, not friends, to their kids and set limits for them early on so when they get to be teenagers they have some idea of right and wrong. It is NOT the job of the schools especially since they took the paddles out (and that is not a good or bad thing) but the parents need to do their job or not have kids if they don't want to raise them to function respectfully in the world today.
