The Sheriff wrote a letter to the editor in Saturday's Levelland paper in response to a question raised last week concerning his decision to keep Quintanilla on the payroll.(Fair question I thought, I mean after he fired a deputy just two weeks before for stealing $9 worth of gravel)

He quoted his oath of office, stressing "his duty to protect other citizen's rights".

Read the government's detention proffer!

Where was that sense of duty and honor when Kinney accused a DPS Trooper of lying, and urged the DA to drop the charges against Froman? Page 6.

Where was that sense of duty and honor when Kinney
was said to have at least tried to disrupt surveillance on Froman? Page 12.

Where was that sense of duty and honor when he warned his deputies that the "phones may be tapped".(Why would any good officer be concerned over such a thing anyway?) Page 14.

Where was that sense of duty and honor when Kinney failed to tell the DA that an out of state narcotics officer had information that Froman was distributing meth across state lines? Page 20.

And most of all...where was that sense of duty and honor when he authorized his men to RETALLIATE against "another citizen" they suspected was an informant for ATF? page 21.

What a farse. He would do better to show a little humility and just be quiet.

You can't even serve as a juror if you're under indictment, so how can you serve as a peace officer?
Kinney shouldn't be worried about his guilt or innocence. He has to let him go simply because a Grand Jury has called Quintanilla's integrity into question! I mean he fired Bohannon, and he hasn't been convicted either.
By keeping Quintanilla, Kinney tends to call his own integrity into question. That's just common sense, I think there must more to it.

Once again, you all sound like 5 year olds. Two months ago, if anyone had problems, Gordon or Kenny would be the first you called on. They are good enough to risk they're life protecting you and your family, but when they are accused of something, everyone wants to jump in and say I told you so. Don't crucify the ones that would try to help you, look at the ones that dont even care about your safety, ie... Hockley Crooked County Court House. If these alligations are true, I sure am glad that Hockley County isnt prosecuting them, how long has it been since the DA won ANYTHING, even with confessions and witnesses in a criminal trial? The DA pleas out his cases cause he cant win a trial, since we're getting rid of all our sheriffs dept, lets let some of those incompetant people that actualy lose the cases the law men have handed them.
