Of course Sheriff Kinney will contest his arrest. He has gotten away with crime and corruption for twenty years and why should he roll over now for law enforcement? He has lived a double life for all these years and he has not experienced an epiphany; he is claiming total innocence. Leopards do not change their spots.
I note that The County Attorney who filed the affidavit has requested an out-of-county judge, but that is not enough to get Kinney a long, deserved stretch behind bars. The trial should be moved to another county. Kinney has been in politics long enough to know that now is the time to start collecting his political IOUs. Some of the people who put him in office are just as crooked as he is, and his attorney will not have any trouble finding a jury that will acquit him. Those who imagine that they are honest and unaware that crime and corruption have become institutionalized in Levelland will want to acquit him in order to absolve their own guilty feelings for electing and supporting him. It would be a shame to allow the efforts of the County Attorney thus far to go wasted and then get back to the status quo in Levelland.

Sheriff Kinney has no axes to grind like some in the courthouse & other offices of the county. In fact he goes out of his way to help others less fortunate. He has been an hones & straightforward individual his entire life. I know this from being around him all his life. No one is any more honest than David. He comes from an honest and God fearing family. This is simply an individual wanting to get back at him for the large drug ring bust. He was elected with an 85% amount of voters, and most of them still stand behind him. When a person cannot get elected to an office they try to steal their way in. The world needs more of Sheriff Kinney's caliber to coral the thugs in our midst.

I realize people dearly love this man and want to be loyal. That's why Mr Kinney needs to stop making speeches that talk about God, and the flag, and Marines, and mama, and how he's being done wrong. Speeches that are really lovely and stirring, and bring a tear to the eye......and deflect away from the fact that a person of integrity would not be more of a liability to this county than he already has been.
There are already two lawsuits filed because of the corruption "he's not responsible for". Mr. Kinney is now going to add to that burden by wanting "justice" of his own. I wonder how many more hands are going to be stuck out before this is over with?
