Gary Harris was certified to teach social science grades 7 through 12. He was asked last year to move to P.E. After he takes two classes this year he will also be certified to teach pe k through 12. I got this info from my friend on the school board. My son played for Harris and now doesn't play at all but think about this. In the past ten years name one program in any Hickman County school that has had a winning season every year? I can only think of one. East middle football. Stop making excuses and just call it for what it is. Maybe someone should ask him if he wants that headache of a program. My family hopes so.

Thanks so much for much for the info! I hope "East Eagles" gets the information! Since they are hellbent on making Harris look incapable, claiming he isn't a "teacher" and all! My family hopes so as well, for the sake of the children, that actually want to play and be competitive!

Homeboy..hmmmm, Please explain Wendell Gordon to me...He's not a teacher, he is an engineer and heads up the Middle School soccer program and assists at EHHS soccer!??? So, it is NOT like that EVERYWHERE! Rules are being bent and no one wants to admit it! If you bend rules in one area, isn't all areas up for consideration? Just curious?

I don't know Harris on a "Personal" level, I have a close friend that is close to Harris, his child plays under Harris. The friend informed me that Harris 'wanted it'..of course that is "hearsay" to me, I like to hear it from the Horse's mouth, so-to-speak, but my friend is a pretty reliable source. I'd like to hear from Harris himself as well. None the less, I personally would like to see Harris carry out his leadership at EHHS, I think he would be a great leader for those children! For me, it isn't about the "wins", the wins will come with GREAT LEADERSHIP, For me personally, it's about those children having someone they trust, look up to, and respect. These 3 key ingredients are missing in the current program..It has to be team wide, sure King probably has a few that do these things, but from what I'm hearing, it's not a unity at all. If it were a team wide unity on current leadership, the wins and competitiveness would be there, good athletes wouldn't be walking away from the sport, & the forms at the gas stations wouldn't be full of signatures!

Harris is a teacher according to the post, the petitions are full & overflowing. The work has been done! Since the work has been done Coach Harris knows who is command of who the coach's are. He needs to take the petitions directly to the person who makes the decision about this since there is so much confusion about who does what. If he wants the job he needs to take the petitions in and ask for the job. The petitions means nothing without his support.

Gary Harris would love to Coach the High School Team, he was in the running for it last time but the 3 year failure got it. Harris was in the process of getting all his required certificates while he was in the interview process for Head Coach of the High School.. So I am sure he would take the spot if it was offered to him. Hopefully Nash will do one good thing for East and take the job from this guy, 3 years and he has showed nothing, that was a fair shot in my book. Open the application process and hopefully Harris will get it this time. If he ( King) is such a good guy then allow him to keep teaching and he can sit in the stands be a fan and learn something. As far as Coaching , certain High School sports do not require anything to be the Head Coach of the team. There have been several Head Coaches in my memory over the years that have been a Head coach that were Parents, basically due to nobody wanting to do that was a teacher ( which is sad ) . I believe Football and Basketball are some of the few that require to be a teacher.

I agree. He needs to take our signatures and ask for the job. No one will even entertain or offer the position if he doesn't ask for it. Now it looks like it's just the parents that want the change and no one listens to parents according to what some have posted.

I think it would be better for someone else to take the signatures up there to Nash himself. I heard Harris already was accused of being behind the petition thing, and he had nothing to do with it. But I am sure he feels good soo many people are behind him. He has the support.

My son is on the high school team he is so excited about the thought of Mr.Harris being the coach next year so I'm asking u all to work together to make this happen. And Frankie King if you truly care about the kids on this team do the right thing and explain to your team that your system doesn't work and your stepping down so they can be in the spot light on Friday nights.Do you know how proud these kids would be to run out on the field on a friday night and the stands full and everyone cheering.I went to the middle school games this year almost as many there as at a high school game and a much better environment everybody was cheering and laughing..Probably because they where winning.

I agree with "M eathead" , Mr. King I am sure you are on here reading this, and all the statements made on this forum. It would be a step in the right direction to step down after this year. I personally would think so much more of you as a true man and real person who does care about the kids in this Community, if you made the move first.

I would love to see somebody take something good for the school to Jerry Nash and watch him talk down to you like you're not worthy to be in his presence.

Don't count on Nash to do anything, in case you haven't noticed he's all about Centerville. He doesn't want East to have anything!!!!!!

HARRIS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE PETITION! I KNOW THIS FOR A FACT!MEASURES OF HOW THEY WERE TO BE PRESENTED WERE DISCUSSED BEFORE HAND. THE GARY HARRIS 'FANS' THAT CREATED, WROTE, AND PUT THE PETITIONS OUT MADE A DECISION ON HOW THEY WOULD BE PRESENTED BEFORE HAND. HARRIS' "FANS" JUST NEEDED SIGNATURES ON THE PETITION(S) TO SEE IF HARRIS HAD THE SUPPORT.:)
