I am the sister of the jailer that shot the dog. What isnt being mentioned is the fact that the owner of the dog had already had several warnings i wrinting from animal control that her dog had attacked children and people in the neighborhood and was vicious and to keep the dog restrained at all times. So instead of being concerned for the lives of the children and people living around her she took the id tag off of her dog and continued to let it run free( after the operating hours of animal control)hoping that no one could trace the dog back to her. She was fully aware that her dog had attacked a child and that he was vicious and i assume felt that it was too much of a burden for her to abide by the leash law in henry county and willingly chose to put at risk the lives of the people living around her. the dog tried to attack my mother and i just last sunday and we were trapped in the back of our truck for almost half an hour before the dog finally left. the dog also tried to attack my son and we could not leave out house for almost an hour. my brother tried to scare the dog away by telling him shoo or go on get out of here but when my brother did that the dog immediately charged and him tying to attack him. he was just trying to save his life. i understand what it is like to lose an animal but in my opinion when you know that you have a vicious dog and have been warned to keep it contained but still continue to let it run free during hours that animal control cant come to the rescue of the person being attacked by your dog you are basically asking for your vicious dog to be shot. what kind of a person could care less about the lives of other human beings? She is truly a cold hearted person to care more about not having to do the extra work to restrain her dog than the lives she is putting at risk letting her horribly vicious and unpredictable dog run free. i feel so much safer now that the dog is gone.

You can't be Anonymous and be the sister. It might also be a good idea to check Henry County records to face the facts this dog has never been reported as vicious.
The dog's collar had never been removed. The dog's chain/collar and tag were returned to the owner by HCPD. One of the bullets that hit the dog had entered the side and exited out the neck striking the chain/collar breaking the link. Since you chose to identify yourself I hope you did not open yourself up for liable because you have made some very serious charges about the owner. Funny how I told a friend I thought the only way this guy was going to get out of this one was for his and family and friends to say the animal was vicious. I am sorry that this has happened to both families.

If the dog had bitten someone then the animal control would have taken the dog and put it in confinement and watched for signs of rabies.
I grew up with this breed of dog and they are loving and sweet and NEVER vicious,NEVER even bark! And if you are the sister then you should be telling your brother about how that bullet could have hit an innocent human victim. No matter what you do not pull out a gun and just shoot because the dog was in your yard! How cruel! But I do know that your position went to your head and you thought that you were above the law and you could do what ever you wanted well guess what? You were wrong!

There is no such thing as a "non-vicious" breed. Any dog, whatever the breed, can be vicious. Also, there can by very friendly, non-aggressive dogs who are a breed known for aggressive temperments.

I hate to hear that the dog was shot. However, there is a leash law in Henry County and it also includes cats. Maybe the jailer was as fed up as I am with people letting dogs and cats run loose and violate the law. Yeah, you can call animal control and they will try to catch the dog or cat running loose or give you a trap to catch the animal. I keep my dogs in a pen and follow the law and I have never had a problem with them getting shot or hit by a car. Keep your animals confined to your yard or home and you won't have a problem!

I agree with you leashum. I'm tired of cats all over my cars and dog poop in my yard. Cats have scratched the hood of my car. Why can't Henry County do something about inforcing the leash law? They want to write tickets for traffic offenses to increase county revenue. Well, they could increase the revenue by inforcing the leash law as well! I like animals but I don't like your animals on my car or in my yard!!! If they get shot it's your own fault and I have no sympathy for you!

Allow me to say again, there are laws for reasons, and just because you work for the jail this doesn't make you exempt because the jailer lives in the same county that he slaughtered the dog. DUH, AGAIN.

As I've said before, let's not give Henry County the funding for tazers. Duh!

You are right! There are laws for reasons, i.e. the LEASH LAW! If you want your animal to be safe, keep it in a pen, walk it on a leash and don't let it out to roam free. KEEP YOUR ANIMALS OUT OF NEIGHBORS YARDS and you won't have a problem! I do not like cats on my cars scratching the paint and dogs turning over garbage, pooping in my yard, barking or growling at me in my yard. After all it is my yard, I own it so keep your animals out of it! KUDOS to the Jailer that had enough guts to do something about it. IF you lost your dog because it was allowed to roam free...BLAME YOURSELF!!!!!

Dogs and cats are animals and will always be animals. They have animal instincts. No one can say if an animal is vicious or not...ever watch when good animals go bad? I have seen small dogs become part of a pack when allowed to run free and kill goats, calves and other dogs. That is their nature and they revert to it if allowed. A friend of mine had his 2 year old daughter mutilated by a small Cocker Spaniel. The dog had never bitten anyone and kids played with it all the time. BUT, one day the dog viciously attacked his child biting her ear lobe off, tearing through her jaw and ripping her face apart. She had to have multiple surgeries ro repair the damage with over 200+ stitches initially.

I agree with Rex Georgia. Jail or no jail, we haven't lost our right to free speech, and what are they afraid to sign their name to about this situation??

I'm not afraid of the police. They have a job to do like everyone else, they just don't do it that well in Clayton and Henry County. That doesn't mean every officer is a pig, just because they wear a uniform.

My problem is the people who think that they are above the law with a high-priced lawyer...
the type of people that threaten you with physical violence, and then offer to pay for your defense : TONY BRUCE, YOU STINK !!!
