I agree. Maybe they could spend their time, money, and resources on taking care of hungry, homeless and abused children in Minnesota.

Why do these so called Christians worry so much about the private lives of other people. I don't believe they are Christians. I certainly was brought up in christian family and I never was taught or had any inclinations to run the private lives of others.
The Minnesota Family Council is actually anti-christian, and does not represent the values taught in the bible. The next thing you know they will be shooting gay people, just like they did to abortion doctors. I think the FBI and and Homeland Security needs to investigate theses wacko's, they are cult, not an organization.

maybe its time for the churches and the progressive leaders to start saving souls-- instead of furthering the decay of our society by supporting illegal immigration- gay rights-class envy-- let the elected people do that-- remember seperation of church & state

It's kinda RTFM around here!(with the M changed to A for article!!!)

"The lawsuit filed last month in Hennepin County by three same-sex couples seeks to overturn Minnesota's 1997 law reserving marriage for heterosexual couples."

So the people opposed (that would be the State for those of you that are a bit challenged)are whack jobs?

Looks like a Mirror session is in order for some of you.

Nice arguement. Whatever. Preservation of marriage is a joke. I see more couples getting a divorce over things that are completely stupid.
What gets me is the oath people that have the right to marry take under GOD to stay married through thick and thin. What I'm driving at is there is no preservation of marriage and divorce is already knocking on the back door. Why is it so easy for the people that can get married to get divorced because they are unhappy? Essentially breaking the oath to GOD. But it's ok?
It has come down to the fact it's a DECISION to get married, NOT a commitment under GOD. The reason for this is because it's also everyone's right to be happy and be loved regardless of race, color, sexual orientation etc. Why can't everyone have that same right to make that same decision? In my eyes, religion has NOTHING to do with love.
People who believe in GOD should know that THEY are not the ones to stand in anyone's way of happiness and to practice tolerance and understand diversity.
I have a solution. Make 2 marriages. One for the people who love eachother and want to get married under their GOD and give them a smiley face on their marriage cert. Another marriage for people who love eachother and want to get married simply because they love eachother and put a smiley face on their cert. Both marriages are fully recognized and get all the same benefits. DONE. We have tolerance and understanding all across the board.
Enjoy some coffee and bars.

RTFP (that would be "posts")- the wackos that many are referring to are members of the MFC who oppose the lawsuit/support the overturning of the 1997 law.

Excuse me - I didn't mean support the overturning, but rather support the law, i.e. reserving marriage for heterosexuals.

No, I don't remember separation of church and state. I can't find it anywhere in my copy of the constitution. All I find is an Amendment prohibiting Congress from passing a law respecting an establishment of religion. In no way does a law prohibiting same sax marriage constitute a law respecting an establishment of religion

1. Anyone can call themselves a Christian. If you are raised in a "Christian home", yet all you did was attend church on Sundays, get your first communion, you confirmation & say a rote prayer at meals...that doesn't qualify. IF your parents made decisions based on principals found in the BIBLE, then it's a Christian home. Did your parents read & live by the Bible daily? Did they believe EVERYTHING in the Bible? That's what a Christian does.
2. Christians aren't trying to "run peoples private lives"- I don't see any lawsuits against people "living together". that is just as sinful. All the gay people can live together all they want. Just like unmarried people.
3. I've seen more gay people being sexual in public than straight people (Memorial weekend at gay softball tourney-lots of horny, gay drunk people--I've never seen it at any other softball tourney)...don't see any Christian lawsuits against that. Oh, and that's against the law, too.
4. If we allow gay marriage, there will be that many more divorces. Do you think they can do it better than heterosexuals can?
5. At my church, with Bible following-committed Christian marriages, the divorce rate is less than 5%. Our pastors won't marry people unless they BOTH are committed & attend classes & counseling before hand. Oh, and they can't live together either. All principals based on the BIBLE.
6. The term 'separation of church & state' is made up by 'progressives'. There is nothing about that in the Constitution. This country was founded by Christians that couldn't have their beliefs in Europe. Read some history...the word Protestant comes from 'protesting' people that had religion forced on them. Read about what & who Martin Luther is.
7. Christians aren't protesting 'gay-commitment' ceremonies. They are just trying to uphold a law.

maybe the more appropriate question is; why do gays feel the need to make their private lives public through the sacrament of marriage???

Personally, I prefer the Bojoran Marriage Suit - which, as anyone who watched Star Trek TNG knows, is completely nude!!

Loved Lowaxana Troi!! The Auntie Mame of outer space!

But back to Minnesota... being surrounded as they are by Canada to the north and Iowa to the south... those poor people - whatever will they do?

You try living a life being consistently derided and denied and told both subliminally and outright that you are "less than" and let's see how YOU feel. you'd be marching in the streets in a heartbeat.

And looking FABULOUS.

The same reason straight people do, I would assume. Or is your straight marriage a loveless arrangement just to produce children? I love my partner with all of my heart and cannot imagine not having him in my life. That is why I want to marry him. If you don't know what love is, I pity you.

I am derided outright where I work for being a Christian & having conservative values.(all republicans are idiots- was announced to everyone one day) My values are constantly being made fun of on TV shows. I don't know of any shows that show a true Christian in a positive light. So, instead of 'marching in the street' I choose to pray for them. I know the truth & that's what comforts me.
