At last count, 86 of 104 abused children in Hendry County didn't have a Guardian ad Litem volunteer to speak up for them in court, the community and within the child welfare system.
Recognizing the need for a local presence to recruit and support volunteers, a new Guardian ad Litem Office has opened at 485 E. Cowboy Way in LaBelle.
About 21 more volunteers are needed to represent 100% of abused children, with staff support.
Anyone interested in more information about becoming a child advocate, should call Donna Baines at the new local Guardian ad Litem Office.
