Stephanie, we in the Asheville/Waynesville NC Trucking Community are praying for your family. I am sooo very, very sorry! Is there ANYTHING we can do to help your family at this time?

We are all praying for your family. I cannot tell you how many of us would have been willing to give our own lives to have prevented the death of your beloved grandparents.

Nobody gives a shit about the speed limits anymore and there seems to be no one enforcing them anymore.
Agreed, but this particular accident appears to be the driver swerving to avoid debris in the road, losing control, crossing the road and hitting a tractor-trailer head on. Not sure speed is the main factor in this one.

While everyone is willing to place blame on the possibilities of this accident without knowing ANY OF THE FACTS, take a moment to remember that these people are someone's family and they were loved very much. This is no time to make your VERY RUDE AND UNINFORMED comments. An entire family is not only in shock, but are dealing with a great deal of loss. My prayers are with this entire family.

Wendy2 - it may be easy for you to sit back and say whatever you want without knowing the FACTS, but stop and think, what if this was your family. Now is not the time for vicious talk and your opinions. I have known this family for over 30 years and love them dearly, and they are hurting very badly right now. We are all hurting for them and our prayers and love are with all of them at this time because we care about them.

My girlfriend, whom I love dearly, is the grand-daughter of these two wonderful people, whom I only got the chance to meet once - but will never forget. That being said, as much as I love her, I love them as well, for being a part of her. All my thoughts and prayers to the entire family.

I would hate to think of this happening on US 19. Of course Trucks are banned from using 19 from Maggie Valley to Cherokee, so they have to use US 23-74 also known as "US 19A" or "The 19 Bypass." May God bless the families of the folks involved.

Wendy2 - wherever you "heard" your information, it obviously was not a reliable or credible source. In the future, please try to remember that your tactless comments may be hurtful to grieving family members, especially if they are not true.
RadicalDudette - I agree. Thank you for defending the truth.
Cell Phoneheads - Although I may be inclined to agree with your opinion, there is a proper time and place to voice your opinion, AND THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM.
At the time of my posting, I saw 30 (out of 32) very thoughtful and loving comments. Thanks to everyone for their thoughts and prayers - I know the family really appreciates them. I have known this family for almost 20 years and you couldn't have asked for two nicer people. The entire family is one of the most loving and caring families I have ever seen. My own thoughts and prayers go out to ALL of them in this time of grief.
