The Old Coast Sheriff wanted more jailers and security upgrades. Just as the Next Coast Sheriff will want more jailers and security upgrades. Let's just say it's like the movie 'Groundhog Day'

This recent escape is only the beginning. These new and improved "jailers" are scared to death that if they don't say "sir" correctly to an inmate they might get federally investigated. The Harrison County Jail is in worse shape now than ever. Its only a matter of time before the inmates take over that jail and everyone will be watching it on CNN. More money is needed to lock their cells, which don't lock, and put more guards on duty, who don't get paid enough, so no more inmates bust through a wall and walk freely on the streets of Harrison County. So as the old saying goes "You get what you pay for" and now is not the time to be cheap.

well as being from the coast area, this is something he should have done from the first moments he took over !he has done nothing progressive since he has taken office but complain he knew the locks needed immediate attention and how much damn money was it going to take to fix even temporarily the locks until the funding came threw ! I find somethings very odd in the explanations (if any) about where the guards where the nite of the escape and how NO-ONE heard nothing !and why in hell were the booking room camera's removed after thats where a man was murdered in there ??? we have another bs lack of supervision running the jail AGAIN !!

Its a money game and nothing more, as long as they are allowed to publically steal this way they will...The Sheriff just got a raise on top of everything else and little public coverage was given to it...
sick of it

yeah thats the truth ! have ya noticed that harrison county is going to hell lately? boy did ex jailer ryan Teels" murder of jessie williams" lawsuit take a toll on the countys pocket book and the family deserves it,but now the sherriff and his posse have to think of other ideas to scream for money ,that will probably not all go to what its supposed, their own pockets as usual ! the corruption here will never cease !!!!

Check it out.. and listen good... the real crooks are the guards who are not doing their job. Ive heard of alot of turned heads when it comes to vandalism and illegal stuff done by the inmates right in front of the guards faces and nothing done. They need to clear house of that place and start over. I am sure there is alot of great employees there but you need to start over..NOW! The guards that have accepted those jobs at those wages should do their job and DUTY!!! Duty? Your moral responsibility to a job or task! If you dont like it there then ship out so the new sheriff can get his hands around the root of the problem and make the needed changes...NOW!

See...here we go again. It's a vicious circle people.
When you pay low wages what do you get? Exactally what you pay for. Bottem end employees. These are the people we are trusting to keep the dregs of our society under lock and key.
I think the new sheriff is a good man with good ideas...yeah he's gung ho right now and wants to make sweeping changes but he also realizes he has to work with in the confines of the civil service guidelines. Harrison County is NOT an "at will" department.
People here do not work at the will of the sheriff. To terminate someone you must show just cause...and if you have been keeping up with the local news that is just what he is doing.

I say we follow the example in Texas and put the whole lot of them in a tent city, no TV,peanut butter sandwiches and make them wear pink underwear. Sad that there is more concern over criminals and their living conditions than the honest hardworking people who are stuck in FEMA trailers that are killing them.

Is anyone as disgusted with the removal of the motor carrier unit like me? i know for a fact that was a 900,000 dollar grant that paid for equipment, salaries, Overtime and training. The shortfall of deputies on patrol is from a lack of hiring officers to fill positions. if they filled them all they would have those and the several grant postitions that the motor carrier unit brought! How stupid to get rid of them! well guess again, he promised to get rid of them during his campaign and he followed through on it. Guess who backed him as a major contributor? Trucking companies! Of course hes getting rid of them, this is backwards thinking and making it easier for trucking companies to break the law! look at the stats of the motor carrier unit and see for yourself, sun herald posted thier stats, amazing. I support more deputies in the neighborhoods but not at backwards thinking. Citizens of Harrison County your brand new sherrif just gave away a great oprotunity and quite a bit of federal money, that you are paying for now. Next person that is killed by an eighteen wheeler should leave a nasty note for the great sheriff Brisolara, thanks for nothing, go ruin some other organization instead of bettering it! It doesnt make any since to get rid of all those federally funded positions just to turn around and ask the taxpayers of harrison county to pay for more! i demand NO!!!!!

There hiring if you can do so much better. if youve never worked in that environment dont comment on it. getting rid of jailers is not the problem. its leadership. someone must become responsible somewhere eventually, who has taken responsibility? everyone aparently has known about this problem and everyone has their opinion on whos to blame. so far all youve seen is fingerpointing, prove me wrong on this. bottom line is its everyones fault, leaders and citizens should be taking action on this problem and i mean legal. we are in danger living next to a jail that houses murderers and rapists that has no locks!!!! its only a matter of time.

Here in NC they put them to work building highways and picking up trash on the side of the road. Make them earn their keep.

Dude..are you smoking the crack that you seize off the street?? The motor carrier unit was nothing more that a political ploy by the former sheriff to make himself look good in the eyes of the feds so that he could land himself a lucrative Homeland Security position!
Yes, while this unit was mostly funded by grants..what happens if the feds decide to channel those funds elsewhere next year?? Does the sheriff put his hand on the shoulder of those deputies and say “Sorry there ole hoss, but the feds cut the funding so you have to find another job!"
What Sheriff Brisolara is doing is what needs to be done. Concentrating on bringing this department back to the basics, rebuilding the foundation and then building back up.
The way you are crying and carrying on I'll bet you were one of Payne's cronies that now has to actually work for your paycheck!

At least weekly, there are news articles reporting mismanagement, staff incompetence and criminal activity,(in each of the three county jails).
Geee, I'd like to see an article on Hancock Co. since they don,t even have a jail!

First of all i dont write opinion just fact. The officers that made that unit came from general patrol. if the grant was not re-uped they would go back to where??.....how about the 25-30 openings they cant fill. The sheriff really sleeps good due to retards such as yourself, he can tell you anything and you will believe it. Yeah i would give close to a million dollars per year back because i had 25 openings that i cant fill...yeah that makes a lot of sense. dont believe me check for yourself. your paying for it!!

OK...so, according to you, the previous sheriff shorted the citizens of valuable patrol officers to man his "cash cow" unit.
This only goes back to prove what I stated earlier there genus, the current sheriff is doing that which must be done to return the department to the "Serve and Protect" department it is supposed to be.
Don’t tell me you were upper management under the last administration?

P.S. Have you ever noticed that everyone in Hancock County has a pronounced brow ridge on their forehead and is collecting "disability".
Geeze.....land of the inbred retards.
My, you seem to have a vast knowledge of incest, beastiality and tooth decay!!
Is you dad and uncle the same man??
Do you feel that if your sister isn't good enough for you that she isn't good enough for a stranger??
Do you sit in front of the mirror and floss with a 1/2 inch rope??
Do you find yourself all flustered waiting for the dog to come back into heat??
Well, I can give you some credit. You haven’t mentioned anything about a secret attraction to children. Unless you keep that sort of thing quiet.
If you ever feel yourself attracted to your little niece or nephew remember this....If a child molester kills himself before he acts on his "urges", God will give you a free pass into Heaven!!
If any of the words in here confuse you, just type them into Google and have someone read what it means to you.
